Patent number: 10830126Abstract: A two-speed pulley assembly for an engine accessory drive includes a planetary gear, a pulley, a friction clutch, a one-way clutch, and a torsional isolator. The planetary gear has a ring gear, a sun gear, a planet carrier and at least one planet gear. The planet carrier is arranged for driving engagement with an engine crankshaft. The pulley circumscribes the ring gear and is in driving engagement with the ring gear. The friction clutch is arranged to selectively prevent rotation of the sun gear. The one-way clutch permits rotation of the sun gear relative to the ring gear in a first rotational direction, and prevents rotation of the sun gear relative to the ring gear in a second rotational direction, opposite the first rotational direction. The torsional isolator is drivingly connected to the planet carrier and arranged to rotate at a same speed as the planet carrier.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2019Date of Patent: November 10, 2020Assignee: Schaeffler Technologies AG & Co. KGInventors: Nicholas Hrusch, Michael Swank

Publication number: 20070142174Abstract: The present invention broadly comprises a method for controlling engine speed, engine torque, and torque converter output including the steps of applying engine torque to a torque converter and modulating the transferring of the torque to a pump for the torque converter. In some aspects, the torque converter further comprises a pump clutch and the method applies torque to the pump clutch and controllably slips the pump clutch. In some aspects, the method supplies engine torque from an engine with a turbocharger and controllably slips the pump clutch to increase speed and torque for the engine during a launch event for the vehicle or determines a parameter regarding operation of the vehicle and controllably slips the pump clutch responsive to the parameter. The present invention also comprises a method for controlling torque converter output by connecting a clutch between an engine and a torque converter and controllably slipping the clutch.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 12, 2006Publication date: June 21, 2007Applicant: LuK Lamellen und Kupplungsbau Beteiligungs KGInventors: Michael Swank, Patrick Lindemann

Publication number: 20050279784Abstract: An improved hydration system for runners that provides superior motion control. Fluid is contained within a flexible bladder and pack, and attached to the waist. The pack is constructed of comfortable, elastic, and thermally insulating fabric. When attached to the waist, tension in the fabric compresses the bladder against the user and dampens motion. Along with reduced thickness of the fluid-filled bladder, uniform distribution of fluid in the bladder contributes to motion control and is provided by placement of the zipper in a horizontal orientation across the lower portion of the pack. Additional stability is achieved by attachment of waist straps at angles above horizontal, thereby increasing tension across the top portion of the pack, preventing it from flopping away from the user's body.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 16, 2004Publication date: December 22, 2005Inventor: Michael Swank
