  • Patent number: 10438281
Abstract: A method for reducing greenhouse gas emissions by promoting more efficient energy use, by establishing a measure of efficiency, defined as a ratio of a measure of energy use to a measure of production; establishing a reduction schedule that sets limits on the energy efficiency ratio, with the schedule covering a series of compliance time periods and requiring efficient energy use during those time periods; establishing a transferable credit representing an amount of energy and establishing a tradable financial instrument representing a number of energy efficiency credits; issuing a plurality of energy efficiency credits to the entities; establishing a trading system to facilitate the sale and purchase of the financial instruments; and requiring entities to comply with the reduction schedule by making operational improvements or acquiring and surrendering credits to thus increase the efficiency of energy use in turn reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Patent number: 10392134
Abstract: A propulsion system for an orbiting vehicle such as a low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite includes a set of surfaces over which a gas passes during orbital flight, and a plurality of electrodes on the surfaces. The electrodes are configured to create an electric field having a spatial field pattern in response to field signals, experienced by passing gas molecules as an oscillating field having a frequency on the order of a polarization-resonance frequency of the molecules to impart a propulsive traveling-wave dielectrophoretic force to the passing molecules. The electrodes extend over sufficient area to impart sufficient traveling-wave dielectrophoretic force to the gas to overcome aerodynamic drag and thereby sustain orbital flight of the vehicle. A power source applies the field signals to the electrodes, providing sufficient power to overcome power lost to aerodynamic drag and thereby sustain orbital flight.

  • Patent number: 10255824
Abstract: A method of geospatial data based assessment driver behavior to improve driver safety and efficiency is disclosed. A method of a server device may comprise determining that a telemetry data is associated with a vehicle communicatively coupled with the server device and comparing the telemetry data with a driver objective data. A variance between the telemetry data and the driver objective data may then be determined. A performance score may be generated upon comparison of the variance to a threshold limit and/or the driver objective data. The performance score may be published along with other performance scores of other drivers in other vehicles also communicatively coupled with the server device to a reporting dashboard module. Elements of game theory may be implemented to create a team driving challenge and/or a driver performance program to generate the performance score to improve driver safety and efficiency for commercial fleets.
