  • Publication number: 20130077357
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are disclosed for generating an adjustable bias current. The value of the adjustable bias current may be determined based in part on an error signal representative of a difference between an actual output value and a desired output value of a power converter. When the error signal is below a lower threshold voltage, the adjustable bias current may be set to a first value. When the error signal is above an upper threshold voltage, the adjustable bias current may be set to a second, higher value. When the error signal is between the lower threshold voltage and the upper threshold voltage, the adjustable bias current may change linearly with the error signal.

  • Patent number: 7190788
Abstract: The methods and apparatus described herein encrypt an unencrypted binary string using an encryption key and a varying-radix conversion method. The encryption key is used to parse the unencrypted binary string into unencrypted sub-strings. The varying-radix conversion method is used to transform the unencrypted sub-strings into encrypted sub-strings. The encrypted sub-strings may then be concatenated together to produce an encrypted binary string. In addition, the reverse process is employed to recover the unencrypted binary string from the encrypted binary string. For example, the decryption process may occur after the encrypted binary string is transmitted over a network communications system.

  • Publication number: 20070008035
Abstract: An amplifier has a wide bandwidth and a high gain by using parallel loads. Each load has a load resistor and a load p-channel transistor in parallel. The drain voltages of differential n-channel transistors can be set by the load resistors, while switching current is provided by the load p-channel transistors. The parallel load provides a high impedance to the drain nodes yet still provides driving current. A transconductance stage with a pair of differential transistors and two parallel loads drives a shunt-shunt-feedback stage that has another pair of differential transistors and two more parallel loads. Shunt resistors between the gate and drain of the differential transistors in the shunt-shunt-feedback stage provide shunt feedback and low impedance. Several pairs of transconductance and shunt-shunt-feedback stages can be cascaded together. The cascaded amplifier may be used as a signal repeater.

  • Patent number: 6292088
Abstract: Laminar electrical devices, in particular circuit protection devices, contain two laminar electrodes, with a PTC element between them, and a cross-conductor which passes through the thickness of the device and contacts one only of the two electrodes. This permits connection to both electrodes from the same side of the device. The device also includes layers of solder on the areas of the device through which connection is made, and separation and/or masking members which (a) reduce the danger of short circuits formed by solder flow during installation of the device and/or (b) provide a site for permanent marking of the device.

  • Patent number: 6211771
Abstract: Electrical devices, particularly circuit protection devices, contain conductive polymer elements whose edges are formed by breaking the conductive polymer element, along a desired path, without the introduction of any solid body into the element. The resulting cohesive failure of the conductive polymer produces a distinctive fractured surface. One method of preparing such devices involves etching fracture channels in the electrodes of a plaque containing a PTC conductive polymer element sandwiched between metal foil electrodes, and then snapping the plaque along the fracture channels to form individual devices.

  • Patent number: 5852397
Abstract: A circuit protection device which comprises first and second laminar electrodes; a laminar PTC conductive polymer resistive element sandwiched between the electrodes; a third laminar conductive member which is secured to the same face of the PTC element as the second electrode but is separated therefrom; and an electrical connector which connects the third conductive member and the first electrode. This permits connection to both electrodes from the same side of the device, so that the device can be connected flat on a printed circuit board, with the first electrode on top, without any need for leads. The connector is preferably a cross-conductor which passes through an aperture in the PTC element, because this makes it possible to carry out the steps for preparing the devices on an assembly which corresponds to a number of individual devices, with division of the assembly as the final step.
