  • Patent number: 11693249
Abstract: A system, method, and computer-readable medium are disclosed for performing clamping force adjustment on a virtual reality (VR) headset. User preferences as to clamping force at one or more positions, such as rest position on top of the user's head and VR mode position on user's face, are determined. The preferences are stored in a user profile. When a user places the VR headset, clamping force at a position is measures and clamping force is adjusted at that position.

  • Publication number: 20230185343
Abstract: A portable information handling system modular hybrid architecture separates components between rotationally coupled housing portions to minimize cabling, connectors and materials, and to provide improved durability that supports recycling and reuse of the components. For example, a secondary board coupled in a first housing portion and having an audio processor exposes a connector that communicates audio signals to a speaker through a housing cover coupled over the first housing portion. A first speaker interface of the housing cover aligned with the secondary board connector communicates the audio signals through wires of the housing cover to a second speaker interface aligned with a speaker having a speaker contact to accept the audio signals. The speaker has a speaker cartridge with a piezoelectric speaker element that releasably couples to a speaker chamber to aid in reuse and recycling of the speaker.

Abstract: A portable information handling system modular hybrid architecture separates components between rotationally coupled housing portions to minimize cabling, connectors and materials, and to provide improved durability that supports recycling and reuse of the components. For example, a secondary board coupled in a first housing portion exposes a keyboard connector that communicates with a keyboard connector interface when a cover having the keyboard couples over the first housing portion. A battery connector exposed at a side of the secondary board has pins that directly interface with a battery connector interface of a battery. The secondary board supports modular assembly and disassembly of the keyboard and battery for improved recycling of components to reuse.

  • Publication number: 20230185277
Abstract: End users subscribe to use information handling systems having a selected of available performance characteristics defined by a keyboard and touchpad configuration selected to build the information handling systems. A manufacturer meets subscriptions with information handling systems built from an inventory of new keyboards, deployed keyboards of information handling system in use by subscribers, and separated keyboards taken from returned information handling systems and re-used. End user subscriptions are met in part by building replacement information handling systems with separated keyboards having a useful life remaining that aligns with end user keyboard usage patterns tracked over time, benchmarked performance metrics and end user subscription performance characteristics.

  • Patent number: 11577161
Abstract: More realistic experiences can be provided to a user through the use of a wearable suit. The xR wearable suit may include materials with adjustable characteristics, such as friction, and electronics for controlling the materials to provide feedback to the user wearing the xR suit. In an xR game, the materials may be used to translate virtual damage to physical constraints on the user. For example, when an avatar gets shot in the leg and is debilitated, the user's leg motion can be constricted to understand that shortcoming and stay in sync with the avatar. Examples of such feedback materials include inflating ribs, sheet jamming, and mechanical devices.
