  • Publication number: 20200004349
Abstract: A totem resting on a touchscreen display integrates a display at an upper surface to present visual information to an end user. Totem orientation is determined from totem touches at the touchscreen display and applied with other factors to orient the presentation of visual information at the totem to the orientation of an end user viewing the touchscreen display. Visual information presented at the totem may include input icons to associate the totem with an application, notifications from applications, and content presented at the touchscreen display under the totem.

  • Publication number: 20200004348
Abstract: Context aware input masking by a touchscreen touch controller filters touch inputs by a totem at a touchscreen to those detected touches relevant to a user interface presented on a touchscreen display. For example, a rotational user interface that accepts values based upon the rotational orientation of a totem has rotational orientation inputs sent from the touch controller while linear inputs are withheld. As another example, a linear user interface that accepts values based upon a position along a length of the totem has linear inputs sent from the touch controller while rotational inputs are withheld.

  • Publication number: 20200004355
Abstract: A totem object placed on a touchscreen display provides inputs based upon touches made at the touchscreen display, such as with the rotational orientation or linear location of the totem object relative to a user interface presented outside the totem object. A visual access from the touchscreen display through the totem object passes a visual image from the touchscreen display for presentation at the totem object upper surface, such a numerical value of an input made by totem object position on the touchscreen display.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing volumetric tracing for orthogonal displays in an electronic collaboration setting. In some embodiments, an Information Handling System (IHS) may include a processor and a memory coupled to the processor, the memory including program instructions stored thereon that, upon execution by the processor, cause the IHS to: identify a first characteristic associated with a given one of a plurality of participants of an electronic collaboration session, at least in part, using an image sensing device; identify a second characteristic associated with the given participant, at least in part, using a proximity sensing device; identify a volumetric space for the given participant based upon a combination of the first and second characteristics; and provide a user interface to the given participant. The user interface may have a set or one or more features selected, at least in part, based upon a characteristic of the volumetric space.

  • Patent number: 10496193
Abstract: A pen device includes a battery, a logic unit and a wireless transceiver configured to transmit detected pen device inputs by a user to an IHS (Information Handling System). A touchpad extending around a circumference of the pen device includes capacitive layers configured to detect the user contacting the touchpad. The touchpad also includes pressure-sensitive layers configured to detect a force applied by the user in contacting the touchpad. The combination of inputs from the layers of the touchpad provides the location and pressure of the user's contact with the touchpad. These touchpad inputs in combination with the detected movement of the pen device support detection of inputs such as taps, squeezes and gestures that may serve as inputs to an application operating on the IHS. Utilizing the pen device in this manner, a user may provide various types of application inputs without interruption from the user's current workflow.

  • Publication number: 20190244426
Abstract: An information handling system coordinates presentation of a visual item with a flat panel display and head mounted display using tokens detected by one or more sensors, such as a depth camera and ultrasonic sensor. Upon detection of a token by a sensor, gestures detected by at least one sensor manipulate a three dimensional image presented at a location by the head mounted display. A visible surface determination of the view area sorts upright extents of the items presented by the head mounted display and flat panel display so the united view of an end user is uncluttered with image overlap.

  • Patent number: 10365822
Abstract: An information handling system input device coordinates presentation of keyboard augmentation panels proximate a keyboard resting on a horizontally-disposed touchscreen display. The keyboard augmentation panels relate keyboard and other inputs to an application active on the information handling system to enhance end user interactions. A keyboard augmentation module tracks the keyboard position on the touchscreen display to adapt content presentation in the keyboard augmentation panels based upon expected end user inputs. In other embodiments, other physical devices are augmented to have hybrid graphical interfaces that enhance multi-hand end user interactions.

  • Patent number: 10228848
Abstract: Projected input and output devices adapt to a desktop environment by sensing objects at the desktop environment and altering projected light in response to the sensed objects. For instance, projection of input and output devices is altered to limit illumination against and end user's hands or other objects disposed at a projection surface. End user hand positions and motions are detected to provide gesture support for adapting a projection work space, and configurations of projected devices are stored so that an end user can rapidly recreate a projected desktop. A projector scan adjusts to limit traces across inactive portions of the display surface and to increase traces at predetermined areas, such as video windows.

  • Patent number: 10228892
Abstract: An information handling system presents visual images at plural display devices and moves the visual images at the display devices responsive to touches made at one or more of the display devices with movement managed in a point mode or a touch mode as selected by one or more predetermined inputs. In the touch mode, the visual image moves as the touch moves. At detection of the predetermined input to select the point mode, the visual image moves a greater distance than the touch movement so that the end user is able to move the visual image between separate display devices.
