  • Patent number: 6804195
Abstract: Data communicated on one wireless channel is converted and communicated via a wired line. Alternatively, data communicated on a plurality of wireless channels is bundled and communicated via a wired line using a number of channels smaller than that of the wireless channels. In a case where another wireless communication apparatus wishes to use a wireless communication channel when a plurality of wireless channels are being used for communication, some of the plurality of wireless channels are released, thereby making it possible for the other communication apparatus to perform communication even when communication is being carried out using the plurality of wireless channels. When communication by the other wireless communication apparatus subsequently ends, communication on the original number of wireless channels is resumed.

  • Publication number: 20040196506
Abstract: According to this invention, the IP address and identifier of a destination apparatus are stored in correspondence with the telephone number of the destination apparatus. Input of the telephone number of the destination apparatus is accepted. Depending on whether or not the IP address corresponding to the accepted telephone number is stored, a session request is transmitted to the destination apparatus using that IP address so as to start an image communication.

  • Publication number: 20030091099
Abstract: In a communication system using frequency hopping to transmit data packets, a transmission request from a transmitter is transmitted through a first control channel. The transmission request includes a frequency channel designation selecting one of plural data channels. A receiver that receives the transmission request sends a receive confirmation through a second control channel and the data packets are then transmitted through the data channels so that the data channel is changed each time a data packet is transmitted.

  • Publication number: 20030076533
Abstract: Disclosed are a communication apparatus capable of efficiently using a communication line, a control method of the communication apparatus, a facsimile apparatus, a communication method, and a program. To accomplish this, if “print later” in a menu is selected with an image displayed during data communication while a line is connected (S432), printing data is generated from an HTML file of the displayed image (S433). That is, the displayed image is designated as an image to be printed after the line is disconnected. The generated printing data is stored in a printing data buffer (S434). If the presence of the data in the printing buffer is detected (S437) after the line is disconnected (S436), the data is printed (S438).

  • Publication number: 20020132584
Abstract: This invention solves various problems associated with apparatus registration and communications after registration in an n:n communication system based on, e.g., a Bluetooth protocol. Information of a newly registered wireless communication apparatus is sent to already registered wireless communication apparatuses. A communication with the already registered apparatus starts by sending a Page message based on the Bluetooth protocol. When an apparatus that output a registration request in response to an Inquiry message based on the Bluetooth protocol is selected, identification information of the selected apparatus is stored. Upon registration, already registered apparatuses are not displayed.

  • Publication number: 20020099778
Abstract: A data communication apparatus and an electronic mail data producing method are provided that are capable of allowing a file name to be easily added to a file attached to an electronic mail and also allowing a file name to be added to a file attached to an electronic mail, which is commensurate with the contents of the date to be transmitted. A CPU of the data communication apparatus combines a page number allotted to each of the images converted into files with the subject of the electronic mail that is inputted, to generate an attached image file name, and transmits the electronic mail with the image data in the form of files attached thereto together with the generated attached image file names. Therefore, it is not necessary to input the name of an image file attached to an electronic mail, which facilitates the operation of transmitting an electronic mail and enables giving a file name that enables the receiver of the electronic mail to easily recognize the contents of the attached image file.

  • Publication number: 20020089702
Abstract: An image processing apparatus and method is provided that enables the output of image data in a size suitable for a transmission method that is employed. If electronic mail data is transmitted by electronic mail, a CPU of the image processing apparatus converts read image data into an electronic image file while changing the width thereof according to a predetermined reading image width set by a scanner and transmits the image file as electronic mail data. If electronic image data is transmitted by color facsimile, the CPU provides control such that white pixels are added to the electronic mail data so that the width thereof can be equal to a predetermined image width. By thus changing the width of an image file to be transmitted as an attachment to an electronic mail according to a predetermined image width, an image properly laid out in a proper size can be reproduced at a facsimile receiving side and there is no unnecessary area when the image file is opened at the electronic mail receiving side.

  • Publication number: 20020051148
Abstract: Color facsimile communication uses image data obtained by JPEG-compressing data having a CIE Lab color space. To attach a JPEG image to e-mail, image data obtained by JPEG-compressing data having an Internet standard YCbCr color space is desirable. When an image transmission method is selected, color space conversion (conversion to a CIE Lab or YCbCr color space) corresponding to the selected transmission method (facsimile transmission or transmission by attaching to e-mail) is performed for an image to be transmitted. This image subjected to the color space conversion is encoded by JPEG, and the encoded image is transmitted by the selected transmission method.

  • Publication number: 20020051223
Abstract: An image communicating apparatus determines whether or not the amount of compressed image data is a predetermined amount or greater when transmitting a scanned color image as attached data in an e-mail message. If the amount of data is the predetermined amount or greater, the compressed image data is decompressed, and the image data is again compressed with a lower resolution, thereby reducing the amount of data to less than the predetermined amount. The image data is then attached to an e-mail message, and the e-mail message is transmitted.

  • Publication number: 20020025835
Abstract: To provide an communication apparatus such as a facsimile apparatus that allows radio communication in different modes to be used so that efficient communication can be implemented. For instance, even in a state where the image reading section (hand scanner) is removed, it allows an image read by the facsimile apparatus to be sent to another first terminal and simultaneously radio-communicated to a public switched line by a second terminal by way of the facsimile apparatus. Also, it allows a quality cordless telephone function to be implemented by a TDMA radio line and simultaneously high-speed transmission of image data and so on to be implemented by a frequency hopping radio line.
