  • Patent number: 5630211
Abstract: A main body of a portable radio apparatus is split into an upper box and a lower box, and the upper box is connected to the upper part of the lower box to be rotatable about a hinge section. An antenna is similarly connected to be rotatable on the hinge section. When the lower body is swung open, the antenna is also swung simultaneously. As the antenna can be further swung, the distance between the head of the user and the antenna can be maximized during communication.

  • Patent number: 5566361
Abstract: An antenna handling mechanism incorporated in a portable radio communication apparatus and including an antenna which can be pulled out of the casing of the apparatus, as desired. When the antenna is received in the casing, the lower end of thereof is locked by a latch mechanism disposed in the casing. In this condition, as the tip of the antenna is pressed, the latch mechanism unlocks the lower end of the antenna and, at the same time, pushes the antenna out of the top of the casing by a pushing stroke. When the antenna being inserted into the casing reaches a predetermined position, the latch mechanism locks the lower end of the antenna.

  • Patent number: 5471653
Abstract: A portable radio apparatus includes a housing, a receiver unit, a transmitter unit, and a hinge member. The housing has a longitudinally elongated, thin, rectangular parallelepiped shape. The receiver unit is arranged on one surface side of an upper portion of the housing to be located inside the housing. The transmitter unit is arranged on the same surface side of a lower portion of the housing as that of the receiver unit to be located outside the housing. The hinge member pivotally supports an upper end portion of the transmitter unit with respect to the housing. When the transmitter unit is pivoted through a predetermined angle, a lower end portion of the transmitter unit is unfolded to form a mount gap between the lower end portion and the housing.

  • Patent number: 5379151
Abstract: A magnetic reproducing device such as a VTR, DAT, or the like reproduces recorded information from inclined tracks on a magnetic tape, having auxiliary information, such as address information, recorded in areas in the inclined tracks, includes a rotary magnetic head rotatable for successively scanning the tracks on the magnetic tape to generate a reproduced signal representative of the auxiliary information. A pulse signal is generated having pulses in synchronism with each rotation of the rotary magnetic head through a predetermined angle. Window pulses used subsequently to extract the auxiliary information in the areas from the reproduced signal are generated based on the pulse signal.

  • Patent number: 5321440
Abstract: Image data is encoded into sync blocks of fixed length and maximum data volume by dividing a vertical interval of image data samples, such as a field or frame of samples, into a plurality of blocks and deriving the orthogonal transform of the image data samples in each block. A block of conversion coefficients that are produced by the orthogonal transform are quantized with the same quantizing step to produce weighted, quantized conversion coefficients having a weighting factor that is a function of the visual activity of that block. Then, the weighted, quantized conversion coefficients of a block are variable length coded and the variable length codes of a predetermined number of blocks are combined into a sync block of fixed length.

  • Patent number: 5251117
Abstract: A structure of a diffusing lens for a light emitting diode (LED). The diffusing lens is mounted on, for example, part of the casing of a receiver included in a telephone. A relatively thick plate-like diffusing lens is press fitted in a slot formed in an end portion of the receiver. Implemented by a light transmitting member, the lens transmits light issuing from an LED in a direction perpendicular to the thicknesswise direction thereof while diffusing it in a predetermined direction. Two holes are formed through the lens in the thicknesswise direction, and each receives and retains an LED therein. Two leads extending out from each LED are drawn out from both ends of the associated hole of the lens and connected to a flexible printed circuit board.

  • Patent number: 5223991
Abstract: In a digital signal reproducing apparatus for detecting identifying data in a reproduced digital data signal which had been recorded on slant tracks formed sequentially on a magnetic tape by a rotary head and which is reproduced at a speed higher than a normal playback speed, a synchronizing detector circuit detects synchronizing data included in the reproduced digital signal and, in response thereto, a pulse signal is generated and supplied to an identifying data detector circuit which, in response to such pulse signal, receives a plurality of corresponding identifying data. The identifying data detector circuit determines the identifying data value which corresponds to the majority of the received plurality of identifying data.

  • Patent number: 5122912
Abstract: An apparatus for processing an input data signal has a generator providing a plurality of pseudo-random signals each of which scrambles the input data signal for providing a plurality of respective scrambled outputs, a detector by which a DC component, such as, a run-length or a digital sum value, is detected for each of the scrambled outputs, and a selector responsive to the detector for selecting one of the scrambled outputs, for example, having a minimum run-length or a digital sum value closest to zero. An identifying signal identifying the pseudo-random signal used in scrambling the selected scrambled output is then transmitted with the latter, for example, by recording on a magnetic tape. When the transmitted signal is received or reproduced, the identifying signal included with it is detected, and the received signal is descrambled with a pseudo-random signal corresponding to the detected identifying signal.

  • Patent number: 5023710
Abstract: A highly efficient coding apparatus is configured to divide a digital picture signal into picture blocks and, based on a signal from a coding circuit for performing variable-length coding of each picture block, generate an output signal in the form of serial sync blocks. By inserting the most significant bit of a coded output signal for each picture element in a predetermined position of each sync block, a reproduced picture is obtained in a picture search mode in which a magnetic head scans a video tape across a plurality of tracks.
