  • Publication number: 20030035503
Abstract: A Data and Clock Recovery circuit comprising an input for receiving a first signal (DATA) having a first frequency within a first frequency range and a first phase. The DCR circuit comprises an output for transmitting a first output signal (OUT) having a second frequency and a second phase, the DCR further comprising a Phase Locked Loop (PLL) coupled to the input. Said DCR further comprises a Frequency Locked Loop (FLL) coupled to the input for transmitting to the PLL a first control signal (C_S) indicative for the first frequency. The PLL is conceived to transmit the output signal (OUT) under the control of the first control signal (C_S), the output signal having the second frequency substantially equal to the first frequency and the second phase substantially equal to the first phase.

  • Publication number: 20030034813
Abstract: The present invention relates to a differential charge pump, in particular for use in a tuning system including a phase-locked loop, for generating currents, comprising a first input (IN+) and an inverse second input (IN−), in particular for receiving differential signals from a phase comparator, first current source means (Q1) for generating a first current (kIo) in accordance with the signal inputted into said first input (IN+), second current source means (Q2) for generating an inverse second current (kIo) in accordance with the signal inputted into said second input (IN−); and a first output (OUT+) and a second output (OUT−) for outputting said first and second currents, respectively.

  • Publication number: 20030030509
Abstract: A transmission lines arrangement comprising a first plurality of transmission lines each transmission line having an effective characteristic impedance. The arrangement further comprises a second plurality of transmission lines, said first plurality of transmission lines being coupled to a plurality of switching elements. The plurality of switching elements are conceived to redirect an input signal from one transmission line of the first plurality of transmission lines to at least one transmission line of the second plurality of transmission lines. The arrangement is characterized in that each of the switching elements of the plurality of switching elements have a relatively high input impedance in comparison with the effective characteristic impedance and a relatively high output impedance in comparison with the effective characteristic impedance.

  • Publication number: 20020167366
Abstract: A LC controllable oscillator (LCCO) according to the invention comprises a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) and a first voltage controlled current source (VCCS) of a first type for supplying a current to the VCO. The VCO is realized with a first pair of VCCS of the first type coupled with a second pair of VCCS of a second type and a LC resonator. The VCO generates a periodical oscillation frequency that is controllable by a control signal (V). The LCCO further comprises a replica scaled bias module (RSBM) supplied from the external voltage source. The RSBM is conceived to generate a control signal (BIAS CONTROL) for controlling the supplied current delivered by the first VCCS to the VCO.

  • Publication number: 20020158678
Abstract: The present invention relates to a tunable quadrature phase shifter comprising an input (IN) for inputting an input signal (vin), splitting means (10) for splitting the input signal into two essentially orthogonal first and second signals (i1, i2), adding means (6) for adding said first and second signals (i1, i2), subtracting means (7) for subtracting said first and second signals (i1, i2), a first output (OUT+) for outputting a first output signal (vo1) based on the output signal from said adding means (6), and a second output (OUT−) for outputting a second output signal (vo2) based on the output signal from said subtracting means (7), wherein that said splitting means (10) is provided as an all-pass.

  • Patent number: 6469580
Abstract: A fully differential, variable gain amplifier comprising an input, an intermediate stage and an output stage, the input stage (100) being coupled to the intermediate stage (200) and the intermediate stage being coupled to the output stage (300). The input stage comprises an amplifier with local feedback means and voltage-to-current conversion means. The intermediate stage has nodes that are shared by the input stage, the output stage and the intermediate stage, respectively, which are connected to the reference node via a relatively low impedance branch. The intermediate stage further comprises current controlled networks coupled to the common nodes via a first feedback branches and branches to the input stage via second feedback branches. The amplifier has means for controlling the gain and the bandwidth independently of one another.
