  • Patent number: 6926805
Abstract: The press device for a paper web, such as a calendar, contains a flexible moving element (1a) forming an endless structure, said element forming the shell (1) of a roll, the press device including further a counter roll. Inside the moving element (1a) there is a shoe element (3) that is arranged to support the shell (1a) against the counter roll to form a nip (N). The width and/or the surface contour of the supporting surface of the shoe element (3) guiding the shell of the roll in the nip contact varies in the machine direction and the shoe element is positionable in the machine direction to adjust the nip width and/or length.

  • Patent number: 6918996
Abstract: A method and apparatus in ropeless tail threading in a multi-roll calender is disclosed wherein the threading tail is guided through the multi-roll calender in such a way that, before the multi-roll calender, the threading tail is guided first of all to the broke processing and then cut when the tail threading begins. The tail threading takes place in stages, so that at least once during the tail threading the threading tail in connection with the multi-roll calender is guided to broke processing and cut, after which the tail threading is continued, once the previous stage has succeeded.

  • Publication number: 20030136536
Abstract: A paper or board web is manufactured in an on-line manufacturing process, in which the web is passed from a paper or board machine (15) directly to a finishing device/finishing devices (60, 50, 10). The state of the finishing device/finishing devices (60, 50, 10) is monitored and, during a shutdown of a finishing device (60; 50; 10), said finishing device is bypassed, the web coming from the paper or board machine (15) is wound into machine reels and/or treated by means of some finishing device/finishing devices and wound into machine reels. A paper or board machine forms an on-line manufacturing process together with a finishing device/finishing devices.

  • Publication number: 20030024672
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and arrangement for processing a wide paper or board web in connection with such a manufacturing method, in which a wide base web (14) is manufactured and the base web is processed in at least one processing stage before the separation of the finished product by cutting it transversely from the web on the production line. According to the invention, the base web (14) is divided at least once to form two part-webs (17, 18) before the separation of the finished product by cutting it transversely from the web and before the final processing stage preceding separation. At least one part-web (17, 18) formed in this manner is guided to a finishing stage before the separation of the finished product by cutting it transversely from the web on the production line.
