Abstract: A system and method of selecting a web page from a plurality of web pages, wherein the plurality of web pages are represented using a plurality of thumbnails is provided. In addition, the plurality of web pages can comprise previously visited web pages and previewed web pages. The system and method further provides a visual indicator that is either displayed by default upon the selection of the web page or is drawn by a user. The visual indicator substantially encompasses a desired portion of the selected web page for initial viewing upon loading or re-loading of the selected web page. Alternatively, the visual indicator can be positioned so that at a predetermined proximity to a desired portion of the web page, the desired portion of the web page is focused on for initial viewing. Remaining portions of the selected web page not encompassed by the visual indicator are not initially displayed.

Abstract: A system and method for providing an electronic device with a plurality of buttons thereon that can be actuated by a user using either the user's fingers or a stylus, for example. The buttons include a first portion and a second portion with the first portion of the buttons being separately actuable from the second portion of the buttons. This permits different functions to be performed by the button depending upon whether the first portion or the second portion of the button is actuated.

Abstract: A method for providing a combined set of proposed words from a predictive text engine, as well as a module, an apparatus, a system and a computer readable medium. Generally, according to the method, a number of key input actuations is received via e.g. a keypad. Then, a first set of proposed words based upon the key input actuations is determined, using a predictive text engine, and shown to the user. Upon the determination of the first set, a speech input device and a speech recognition engine is activated and a speech input is received. Based on the speech input, using a the speech recognition engine, a second set of proposed words is determined. Finally, the first and second set of proposed words are combined into the combined set of proposed words.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an adaptable user interface. The adaptable user interface provides a more error free input function as well as greater ease of use when being used during certain events such as while moving. A user interface in accordance with the principles of the present invention comprises a user input, at least one sensor, and a display unit functionally in communication with the at least one sensor and adapted to change its user interface input mode. The user interface is capable of adapting its user interface input in response to a stimulus sensed by the sensor.

Abstract: A web page is electronically retrieved from a remote site such as a server, using a web browser program. At a graphical display interface is simultaneously displayed a browser toolbar of menu items, at least a portion of the retrieved web page, and at least one pre-selected element of the web page. The pre-selected element is displayed at a new position different from an original position in which the pre-selected element exists in the retrieved web page. In an embodiment, the pre-selected element is a login block and the new position is within the toolbar. Methods, devices, embodied programs, and user interfaces are described.

The input means comprises a rotating input means arranged to provide an angular movement signal in accordance with an angular movement of the rotating input means for selecting an item from a plurality of selectable items arranged to be presented on said display, wherein one or more of the selectable items are associated with a feedback signal, and the rotating input means is arranged to provide feedback according to the feedback signal to a user when operating the rotating input means in a position related to the items associated with a feedback signal. Abstract: A method of editing a character string displayed on a touchscreen with an indicator means. A character string comprising a plurality of characters is displayed on the touchscreen. The character string is edited in response to an indication made with the indicator means such that the characters after the indication point are deleted from the character string. The character string may be a network address displayed in an address field of a browser program, whereby the loading of the network address according to the edited character string is automatically initiated by the browser program in response to the editing of the character string.
