    Abstract: A method for transmitting control data on a downlink and/or uplink channel in a base station and/or mobile station in a mobile communication system. In one embodiment, the base station determines whether there is downlink channel data to transmit to a mobile station. If there is no data to be transmitted over the downlink channel for a predetermined time period, the base station drives a random gating position selector to determine a random gating slot position, gates on the control data at the determined slot position, and gates off the control data at other slot positions.

    Abstract: A forward link device of a multicarrier CDMA communication system with an overlay scheme in which a multicarrier system and an IS-95 system share same frequency bands. In the forward link device, four encoders encode input data of corresponding rates with a 1/3 coding rate, respectively. A first repeater repeats two times full rate symbols output from the first encoder, and second to fourth repeaters repeat symbols output from the second to fourth encoders, respectively, according to a predetermined number of times, to match the number of corresponding output symbols to the number of full rate symbols. First to fourth interleavers interleave the symbols output from the first to fourth repeaters, respectively, to uniformly distribute the symbols of the same data bit to the carriers.

    Abstract: A common packet channel assignment method and device in a CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) communication system is disclosed. The method comprises transmitting an access preamble signal having channel information which is used to access a base station, and then receiving an; access preamble acquisition indicator signal from the base station in response to the access preamble signal. A collision detection preamble for detecting a collision is transmitted in response to the received access preamble acquisition indicator signal. A first signal indicating acquisition of the collision detection preamble and a second signal indicating channel assignment are received, both of which the base station has transmitted in response to the collision acquisition signal. Upon receipt of the first signal, a common packet channel is assigned according to information designated by the second signal.

    Abstract: A design of a bobbin for stacking a superconducting coil used in a DC reactor of a current limiting device for limiting fault current of an electric power system, is provided. The design of the bobbin overcomes difficulties of windings and problems including insulation between coils, difficulty in design of shape of bobbin, increase of joints, and degradation of stability caused during transposing of stacked windings of the superconducting coil. A superconducting coil is not quenched at a normal state, but the superconducting coil is quenched upon occurrence of fault current. When such is a case, current generally flows along the lowest resistance path, and the portion of the superconducting coil is overheated.

The plurality of segmented messages are then transmitted in the data segments of consecutive frames on the reverse common channel. The method further comprises determining whether a base station receives the segmented messages by receiving a response message indicating reception of the segmented messages. The common channel is preferably a power-controlled logical dedicated channel.
