  • Patent number: 7263488
Abstract: A method and computer-readable medium are provided that identify prosodic word boundaries for a text. If the text is unsegmented, it is first segmented into lexical words. The lexical words are then converted into prosodic words using an annotated lexicon to divide large lexical words into smaller words and a model to combine the lexical words and/or the smaller words into larger prosodic words. The boundaries of the resulting prosodic words are used to set the prosody for the synthesized speech.

  • Patent number: 7174282
Abstract: A design methodology is provided for creating biomaterial scaffolds optimized for in vivo function with any 3D anatomic shape. The method creates all designs using voxel based design techniques. It also provides for optimization of implant and scaffold microstructure to best match functional and biofactor delivery (including cells, genes and proteins) requirements. The voxel based design techniques readily allow combination of any scaffold or implant microstructure database with any complex 3D anatomic shape created by CT or MRI scanners. These designs can be readily converted to formats for layered manufacturing or casting.

  • Publication number: 20070012768
Abstract: A card printer includes a housing having a card outlet and a connecting element for connecting to a connecting element of a dust-proof card receiver. The dust-proof card receiver includes an opening. A vertical distance between the opening and the bottom of the housing is approximately the same as a vertical distance between the card outlet and the bottom of the housing. When cards output from the card outlet of the housing accumulate to the height of the opening and the card printer continues to output printed cards, cards subsequently output from the card printer push an upper card inside the dust-proof card receiver out from the opening of the dust-proof card receiver.

  • Publication number: 20070009304
Abstract: A card printer includes a housing, a card inlet and a card outlet. A distance between the card inlet and the bottom of the housing is approximately the same as a distance between the card outlet and the bottom of the housing. When serially connecting two similar card printers, the card outlet of the first printer is positioned corresponding to the card inlet of the second printer. Therefore, a card outputted from the card outlet of the first printer is directly inputted into the card inlet of the second printer thereby simplifying a card printing process and reducing labor.

  • Patent number: 7127396
Abstract: A speech synthesizer is provided that concatenates stored samples of speech units without modifying the prosody of the samples. The present invention is able to achieve a high level of naturalness in synthesized speech with a carefully designed training speech corpus by storing samples based on the prosodic and phonetic context in which they occur. In particular, some embodiments of the present invention limit the training text to those sentences that will produce the most frequent sets of prosodic contexts for each speech unit. Further embodiments of the present invention also provide a multi-tier selection mechanism for selecting a set of samples that will produce the most natural sounding speech.

  • Publication number: 20060155544
Abstract: A method for identifying common multiphone units to add to a unit inventory for a text-to-speech generator is disclosed. The common multiphone units are units that are larger than a phone, but smaller than a syllable. The method slices each syllable into a plurality of slices. These slices are then sorted and the frequency of each slice is determined. Those slices whose frequencies exceed a threshold are added to the unit inventory. The remaining slices are decomposed according to a predetermined set of rules to determine if they contain slices that should be added to the unit inventory.

  • Patent number: 7024362
Abstract: A method for estimating mean opinion score or naturalness of synthesized speech is provided. The method includes using an objective measure that has components derived directly from textual information used to form synthesized utterances. The objective measure has a high correlation with mean opinion score such that a relationship can be formed between the objective measure and corresponding mean opinion score. An estimated mean opinion score can be obtained easily from the relationship when the objective measure is applied to utterances of a modified speech synthesizer.

  • Patent number: 6791296
Abstract: A cell phone charging circuit of a USB interface. The charging circuit is supplied with a DC power of 5V via the USB interface and split into two, one has a first resister R1 connected to an emitter of a PNP transistor Q1 in series, and the other has two serially connected diodes D1 and D2. The diodes D1 and D2 have a negative thermal coefficient. The negative electrode of the diode D1 is connected to the base of the transistor, the collector of the transistor serves as a charging output terminal, such that the emitter voltage VEB of the transistor Q1 is the same as the voltage VD2 of the diode D2. Therefore, the current flowing through the resistor is VD1/R1, and the voltage and current limiting function is obtained. When the temperature of the battery increases for charging, the voltage VD1 is reduced to decrease the output current, such that temperature compensation is achieved.
