    Abstract: An encoder receives an input enhanced dynamic range (EDR) image to be stored or transmitted using multiple coding formats in a layered representation. A layer decomposer generates a lower dynamic range (LDR) image from the EDR image. One or more base layer (BL) encoders encode the LDR image to generate a main coded BL stream and one or more secondary coded BL streams, where each secondary BL stream is coded in a different coding format than the main coded BL stream. A single enhancement layer (EL) coded stream and related metadata are generated using the main coded BL stream, the LDR image, and the input EDR image. An output coded stream includes the coded EL stream, the metadata, and either the main coded BL stream or one of the secondary coded BL streams. Computation-scalable decoding and display management processes for EDR images are also described.

    Abstract: A display driver circuit for high resolution and high frame rate and a display device using the same are provided. A display driver circuit for high resolution and high frame rate includes a GAMMA output circuit, multiple digital-to-analog converters (DACs), multiple source operation amplifiers and at least a pre-charging circuit. The GAMMA output circuit outputs multiple grayscales of GAMMA voltages. Each DAC receives the GAMMA voltages and provides an output data voltage according to display data. Input terminals of the source operation amplifiers correspondingly coupled to output terminals of the DACs receive the corresponding output data voltages. The pre-charging circuit coupled between the input terminal of at least one of the source operation amplifiers and the output terminal of at least one of the DACs pre-charges the input terminal of the coupled source operation amplifier, so that an output terminal of the coupled source operation amplifier has fast response to the received output data voltage.

The ECU, responsive to processing by the image processor of image data, generates a cropped frame of captured image data and the ECU determines a cropped detection result based on pedestrian detection using the cropped frame of captured image data. Responsive to determining the reduced resolution detection result and determining the cropped detection result, the ECU merges the reduced resolution detection result and the cropped detection result into a final pedestrian detection result. The final pedestrian detection result is indicative of presence of a pedestrian within the field of view of the camera.

    Abstract: 3D mapping statistics are generated for a first image of a first dynamic range and a second image of a second dynamic range different from the first dynamic range. Multivariate multiple regression (MMR) coefficients are generated by solving an optimization problem formulated using an MMR matrix built with the 3D mapping statistics without a letterbox constraint, and used to generate chroma mappings for predicting chroma codeword values of the second image. It is determined whether a letterbox exists in the images. If so, it is determined whether the chroma mappings accurately predict chroma codeword values in the second image. A reconstructed image generated by a recipient device by backward reshaping one of the images is rendered by a display device operating in conjunction with the recipient device.

The SDR-EDR image pairs comprise SDR images that do not include the SDR image and EDR images that corresponds to the SDR images. The SDR image and the composer metadata are encoded in an output SDR video signal. An EDR display operating with a receiver of the output SDR video signal is caused to render an EDR display image. The EDR display image is derived from a composed EDR image composed from the SDR image based on the composer metadata.
