  • Publication number: 20020021202
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for adjusting the inductance of an inductor at least including a bobbin, a first magnetic member having a concavity on a side wall thereof, and a second magnetic member having a protrusion at a first end thereof for preventing the second magnetic member from being completely inserted into the bobbin so as to form a gap between the first and second magnetic members. The method includes the steps of selecting a reference piece with a suitable thickness to be disposed between the protrusion of the second magnetic member and the side wall of the first magnetic member with the concavity and closely attached to both of them as said second magnetic member is inserted into said bobbin, and partially removing the second magnetic member from a second end thereof according to the thickness of the reference piece so as to obtain a predetermined inductance value.

  • Patent number: 6277304
Abstract: Hybrid materials are formed having a homogeneous distribution of a conductive organic polymer or copolymer in an inorganic matrix. The conductive organic polymer may be electronically conductive, e.g., polyaniline, or may be ionically conductive, e.g., sulfonated polystyrene. The inorganic matrix is formed as a result of sol-gel chemistry, e.g., by the hydrolysis and condensation of tetraethyl orthosilicate and trialkoxysilyl groups in the organic polymers. A homogeneous distribution of organic polymer in the inorganic matrix is achieved by preparing separate solutions of organic polymer and sol-gel monomer, and then combining those solutions with a catalyst and stirring, to form a homogeneous clear solution. Upon evaporation of the solvent and other volatiles, a monolithic hybrid material may be formed. The combination of conductive organic polymer in an inorganic matrix provides desirable adhesion properties to an inorganic substrate while maintaining the conductivity of the organic polymer.

  • Patent number: 6212733
Abstract: A hub and wheel assembly enabling the moving direction of wheels of a vehicle to be adjusted instantly as the exerted pushing force changes direction comprises a wheel mount having wheels mounted thereon, and a swivel base assembly mounted on stroller leg. Wheel mount may quickly assemble with and detach from swivel base assembly. A protrusion of wheel mount, inserted into swivel base assembly, includes a circumferential groove having a cavity provided therein such that a spring-biased locking member may releasably engage with cavity for setting movement of wheels in a linear direction. Further, as a deflecting force is applied on the stroller locking member disengages with cavity for allowing wheels to move to left or right. Once the force is released, locking member will instantly return to its normal position to engage with cavity.

  • Patent number: 5802575
Abstract: A dual-ported tag array of a cache allows simultaneous access of the tag array by miss data of older LOAD instructions being returned during the same cycle that a new LOAD instruction is accessing the tag array to check for a cache hit. Because a load buffer queues LOAD instructions, the cache tags for older LOAD instructions which missed the cache return later when new LOAD instructions are accessing a tag array to check for cache hits. A method and apparatus for calculating and maintaining a hit bit in a load buffer perform the determination of whether or not a newly dispatched LOAD will hit the cache after it has been queued into the load buffer and waited for all older LOADs to be processed. A load buffer data entry includes the hit bit and all information necessary to process the LOAD instruction and calculate the hit bits for future LOAD instructions which must be buffered.

  • Patent number: 5546554
Abstract: In a processor, an instruction unit that issues a plurality of instructions is coupled to a mapping unit. Each instruction contains at least one "virtual" address corresponding to a user-addressable register as defined by an instruction set architecture. A register file having a number of physical register addresses in excess of the user addressable virtual register address is also coupled to the mapping unit. The mapping unit receives instructions from the instruction unit and generates a map value for each virtual register address. The mapping unit also maintains a status value for each physical register address. Maintaining the status value provides for out-of-order completion and in-order retirement. A new mapping is generated each time a virtual register address is used as a destination register address of an instruction. This insures that no physical register address will be overwritten before all older instructions have been resolved.

  • Patent number: 5415817
Abstract: An improved injection/compression molding process for the manufacturing of high quality concave optical lenses of thin thickness. A thermoplastic material is injected into a mold cavity of an injection/compression molding machine, the mold cavity is designed to have adjustable thickness and is initially set at a thickness greater than the lens to be produced. After the amount of the plastic injected fills the enlarged cavity, the thickness of the cavity is gradually reduced by exerting a compressional force on the thermoplastic material inside the mold cavity. During the compression stage, the injection continues and the excess thermoplastic material is squeezed into an overflow pocket inside the injection/compression mold. The injection apparatus can be switched into a pressure holding mode during and after the compression stage to prevent any backflow and post-injection shrinkage.
