  • Publication number: 20180139782
Abstract: An opportunistic asynchronous operation for coordinated new radio (NR) shared spectrum (NR-SS) operations is discussed. In a wireless network having at least one contention-based shared channel in which communications are configured having one or more control intervals time division multiplexed with one or more data intervals for transmission opportunities, a base station receives data for communication at a time during a current data interval on a contention-based shared channel. The base station will review its received signals on the contention-based shared channel during the previous control interval located immediately prior to the current data interval. If none of the received signals indicate a contention-resolution of the contention-based shared channel, the base station may begin an attempted transmission by performing an abbreviated clear channel assessment (CCA). If the CCA is detected as clear, the data may be transmitted.

  • Publication number: 20180115907
Abstract: Techniques for spectrum sharing among operators are provided. A base station (BS) licensed to a first operator monitors, while operating on a first carrier frequency assigned to the first operator, a reservation period on a second carrier frequency assigned to a second operator that shares spectrum with the first operator. The BS determines, based on the monitoring, availability of the second carrier frequency for use by the BS during at least one subsequent data period. The BS determines whether to attempt to reserve access on the second carrier frequency for use during the at least one subsequent data period based on the determined availability.

  • Publication number: 20180109957
Abstract: The described techniques provide for partitioning resources to coordinate wireless communications between one or more network operating entities within a shared spectrum. Partitioning resources may include assigning certain types of communication for each network operating entity to certain time intervals within a larger time frame. For example, a network operating entity may be assigned time intervals for exclusive communication, time intervals for prioritized communication with respect to other network operating entities, and time intervals for opportunistic communication.

  • Publication number: 20180110063
Abstract: A connection may be established between a base station and a user equipment (UE) using a radio frequency shared by multiple network operating entities. Resources (e.g., a frame) may be divided into exclusive, prioritized, and opportunistic sub-intervals for a given network operating entity coexisting within the shared radio frequency spectrum. Additionally, a set of low latency sub-intervals (e.g., reserved resources) may be designated for use by the network operating entity for mission critical (MiCr) and/or autonomous uplink transmissions. The network operating entity may indicate timing information for low latency sub-intervals during a sub-interval for exclusive use by the network operating entity. The UE may then transmit MiCr and/or autonomous uplink messages using the low latency intervals without performing a medium sensing procedure. In some cases, the sub-intervals for MiCr and autonomous uplink transmissions may be for exclusive use by the network operating entity.

  • Publication number: 20180110022
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described that provide for discovery of resources in a wireless communications system. The wireless communications system supports operations for multiple network operating entities that share a radio frequency spectrum. To discover and perform synchronization with the wireless communications system, a common preamble may be transmitted by nodes associated with multiple network operating entities. The common preamble may include information common to each of the multiple network operating entities which may be used by a device to identify neighboring wireless nodes, available network operating entities, or sub-intervals designated for prioritized or opportunistic use by one or more network operating entities.

  • Publication number: 20180103472
Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication at a wireless device. One method includes identifying a priority of the wireless device for a transmission interval of a radio frequency spectrum band shared by a plurality of network operating entities; identifying an absence of a predetermined transmission type in each of a number of clear channel assessment (CCA) slots of the transmission interval, in which each of the number of CCA slots is associated with a higher priority than the identified priority of the wireless device; and communicating over the radio frequency spectrum band based at least in part on the identified absence of the predetermined transmission type in each of the number of CCA slots associated with the higher priority than the priority of the wireless device.

  • Publication number: 20180098225
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to wireless communication systems configured to share a shared spectrum with one or more other systems (e.g., other operator networks utilizing the same radio access technology, and/or other networks utilizing different radio access technologies). Coexistence between the different systems on the shared spectrum may be provided by utilizing a technology-neutral signature waveform such as a signature sequence or discovery signal. The signature sequence may be used for resource reservation, scheduling, and coordination among disparate systems operating on a shared spectrum. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

  • Publication number: 20170064657
Abstract: Techniques for synchronization on a shared communication medium are disclosed. An access point may select, for example, a common sequence, frequency, and time for a first synchronization signal that is coordinated with one or more other access points. The access point may then transmit the first synchronization signal in accordance with the common sequence, frequency, and time. An access terminal may receive, from an access point, a first synchronization signal having a first sequence and a second synchronization signal having a second sequence. The access terminal may then determine an offset in time between the first synchronization signal and the second synchronization signal, and determine a cell identifier group associated with the access point based on the offset.

  • Patent number: 9461736
Abstract: Techniques for efficiently sending and receiving data in a wireless communication system are described herein. The techniques utilize a slot structure that is backward compatible with existing design. The techniques include sending and receiving forward link packets that occupy less than a full slot of the slot structure. An output waveform, which includes at least one slot, is generated at an access point. Each slot is segmented into two half-slots, wherein at least one half-slot includes a data unit of a packet. At a terminal, the output waveform is received and processed to extract the data unit and the data unit is processed to determine whether it is accurate. The terminal also generates ACK/NACK information in response to the results of processing the data unit and transmits channel information including the ACK/NACK information. The access point interprets the ACK/NACK information to determine if the data unit should be resent.

  • Patent number: 9450638
Abstract: Device antennas may be allocated such that a non-LTE module (e.g., GSM module or 1x module) shares the same antenna with an LTE DRx module. This may lead to degradation of a non-LTE voice service when the LTE DRx module performs LTE transmit antenna selection causing the non-LTE module to be switched to a different antenna during reception/transmission of voice slots, resulting in a loss of slots. Accordingly, a method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for controlling antenna switching are provided. The apparatus facilitates a first radio module to use a first antenna for performing a first operation, detects that a second radio module will attempt to use the first antenna during transmit antenna selection for performing a second operation, and determines whether to switch use of the first antenna from the first radio module to the second radio module based on a type of the first operation.
