  • Publication number: 20140053049
Abstract: The present disclosure describes methods and apparatuses for improved transport block decoding in devices capable of wireless communication, which may include user equipment and network entities. For example, the present disclosure presents methods and apparatuses for decoding a code block from a plurality of code blocks corresponding to a transport block, obtaining a reliability indicator that identifies a reliability of the decoding of the code block, comparing the reliability indicator to a reliability threshold, and determining whether to decode a subsequent code block from the plurality of code blocks based on the comparing. Furthermore, these methods and apparatuses may include determining not to decode at least one subsequent code block of the transport block where the comparing indicates that the reliability indicator is less than the reliability threshold. As such, device power is not unnecessarily consumed by decoding likely superfluous code blocks.

  • Patent number: 8611325
Abstract: A system, method, and apparatus for providing venue-cast service in a wireless access network are disclosed. A local transmitter can request reservation of air link resources on the wireless access network for a venue-cast transmission. The local transmitter can receive a forward link signal with a timing reference for data transmitted on the wireless access network such as, for example, the forward link signal in an EV-DO network or a FLO-based media distribution system. Based on the timing reference, the local transmitter can transmit venue-cast information in a same frequency band as the forward link signal utilizing the reserved air link resources. Optionally, the venue-cast system can include a collocated network repeater and the local transmitter can synchronize its timing and transmit power to the forward link signal from the repeater.

  • Patent number: 8537875
Abstract: Methods and systems for adjusting a forward link (FL) signal to interference and noise ratio (SINR) are provided. In an example, a FL SINR is estimated for each user in a plurality of users, on at least one of each user's respective data rate control (DRC) message or each user's respective prior FL SINR value. The respective estimated FL SINR for a user in the plurality of users is increased, if, based on a reverse link acknowledge message, the user has decoded a packet before all symbols in the packet have been transmitted. Remaining control channel power is determined. The estimated FL SINR for all users in the plurality of users is increased if remaining control channel power is less than a low threshold. The estimated FL SINR for all users in the plurality of users is increased if the remaining control channel power is greater than a high threshold.

  • Patent number: 8452011
Abstract: A security system is applied to venue-cast content transmissions over a broadcast/multicast network infrastructure. The broadcast network infrastructure may be Evolution-Data Only Broadcast Multicast Services (BCMCS) that facilitates distribution of a subscription-based content delivery service. A venue-cast service can be part of the subscription-based content delivery service and has an associated service key. Upon subscribing to the content delivery service, the subscriber access terminal is given the service key. Such service key may be associated with a particular subscriber package and/or venue location. The same service key is provided to the broadcast network infrastructure that broadcasts venue-cast content. A broadcast access key is generated by the broadcast network infrastructure and used to encrypt venue-specific content to be broadcasted. Consequently, only access terminals that have received the service key (e.g.

  • Patent number: 8396152
Abstract: A data-optimized communication system provides support for legacy access terminals, such as access terminals operating under the 1xEV-DO standard. The system also supports multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications with access terminals configured to support MIMO. A number of MIMO spatial signatures are predefined or negotiated. MIMO rank and an identifier of the spatial signature determined at the MIMO access terminal are sent on the I-Branch and Q-Branch of the existing 1xEV-DO structure. In one embodiment, 1-bit rank and 3-bit spatial signature are transmitted through the I-Branch as a 4-bit symbol, replacing the data rate control (DRC) channel. In another embodiment, a 4-bit spatial signature is transmitted through the I-Branch, also replacing the DRC channel. A 2-bit rank is transmitted together with a 4-bit DRC channel through the Q-Branch. The 2-bit rank and the DRC channel can be distinguished because they are sent using different orthogonal codeword Walsh covers.

  • Patent number: 8160596
Abstract: A method and system for providing asymmetric modes of operation in multi-carrier wireless communication systems. A method may assign a long code mask (LCM) to an information channel associated with a plurality of forward link carriers to transmit data from an access network to an access terminal; and multiplex the information channel on a reverse link carrier. The information channel may include one of data source channel (DSC), data rate control (DRC) and acknowledgment (ACK) information, and the multiplexing may be code division multiplexing (CDM). The AN may instruct the AT on whether to multiplex the DSC information based on feedback from the AT. The method may further offset the ACK information on the reverse link to reduce the reverse link peak to average, CDM the information channel on an I-branch and on a Q-branch, and transmit the code division multiplexed information channel on the reverse link carrier.
