  • Publication number: 20180232906
Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for more accurately estimating the pose of a camera used to capture a three-dimensional scene. Accuracy is enhanced by leveraging three-dimensional object priors extracted from a large-scale three-dimensional shape database. This allows existing feature matching techniques to be augmented by generic three-dimensional object priors, thereby providing robust information about object orientations across multiple images or frames. More specifically, the three-dimensional object priors provide a unit that is easier and more reliably tracked between images than a single feature point. By adding object pose estimates across images, drift is reduced and the resulting visual odometry techniques are more robust and accurate. This eliminates the need for three-dimensional object templates that are specifically generated for the imaged object, training data obtained for a specific environment, and other tedious preprocessing steps.

  • Publication number: 20180226005
Abstract: The present disclosure provides devices and techniques for correcting misalignment in a multi-display system by identifying a misalignment between a plurality of displays in the multi-display device and determining a line start position of at least one of the plurality of displays in response to identifying the misalignment. The techniques further include transmitting a first line start signal at the line start position of the at least one of the plurality of displays to correct the misalignment.

  • Publication number: 20180182349
Abstract: The present disclosure provides devices and techniques for dynamically adjusting the bias voltage (V) levels (e.g., low level gate voltage (VGL) and high level gate voltage (VGH)) for display screens made with thin-film transistor (TFT) technology based on a display run time. Thus, as the positive bias temperature stress for the TFTs increases over the course of the display lifetime, features of the present disclosure adjust the bias voltage levels to maintain operation margin (e.g., the ratio between the high level gate voltage (VGH) value and the voltage value which the display can maintain with normal operation). By dynamically adjusting the bias voltage levels, the TFT displays of the present disclosure consume lower power than their conventional counterparts and improve the lifetime of the display itself.

  • Patent number: 9853096
Abstract: A display may have an active area with an array of pixels to display images. An inactive area in the display may be formed from an opening in the active area. The inactive area may be enclosed by the pixels in the active area. An inactive border may run along an edge of the inactive area. A grid of positive power supply lines may be used to supply power to the pixels. Initialization voltage lines may be used to distribute initialization voltages to the pixels for use during transistor threshold voltage compensation operations. The inactive border may be free of positive power supply lines and initialization voltages lines. Control signal lines and data lines may pass through the inactive border to supply control signals and data signals respectively to the pixels. The display may have thin-film transistor circuitry with multiple layers of data lines.

  • Publication number: 20170053602
Abstract: Systems and electronic displays with improved contrast even under bright-light conditions are provided. Such an electronic display may include a self-emissive pixel (e.g., OLED or ?-LED) with a corresponding liquid crystal switchable retarder pixel. A liquid crystal layer of the switchable retarder pixel may be tuned to an “on” state or an “off” state. In the “on” state, the switchable retarder pixel may allow outside light that enters the pixel to reflect back out of the pixel. This may add to the amount of light that appears to be emitted from that pixel. In the “off” state, the switchable retarder pixel may block the outside light that enters the pixel from reflecting back out of the pixel. This may reduce the amount of light that appears to be emitted from that pixel. Selectively controlling the switchable retarder pixels may allow for increased contrast even under bright-light conditions.
