Patent number: 5666609Abstract: A copying machine and method for copying a designated area of an original document designates copying start and end positions. A controller controls partial copying in accordance with a first timing sequence corresponding to the copying start position and ends copying in accordance with a second timing sequence corresponding to the copying end position. If a repeat copying mode is prescribed, copying start and end positions which are designated in the first copying cycle are stored and used to make copies of a second and a set of following original documents. Thus, designation of copying start and end positions for subsequent copies is not necessary.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 1996Date of Patent: September 9, 1997Assignee: Ricoh Co., Ltd.Inventor: Minoru Aoki

Patent number: 5594707Abstract: A receiver converts an echo received by a transducer to a supersonic echo signal, and a controller measures the depth of obstacles depending on a timing for receiving the supersonic echo signal, obtains an echo level according to quantity of the supersonic echo signal, and determines the condition of the bottom depending on echo levels of a series of supersonic echo signals. A display unit provides a result of detection at a position of corresponding depth scale on a first display area for providing graphic displays of the obstacles as well as the bottom with a depth scale with a gradation or a pattern type corresponding to the echo level. Graphic displays of the echo level are also provided at a position corresponding to depth on a second display area having graphic displays corresponding to depth scale in the first display area.Type: GrantFiled: October 2, 1995Date of Patent: January 14, 1997Assignee: Uniden CorporationInventors: Minoru Goto, Satoru Watanabe, Minoru Aoki, Shuji Konishi, Koji Kato

Patent number: 5057870Abstract: A toner density control device for an electrophotographic copier, facsimile apparatus, laser printer or similar image forming apparatus of the type forming an image by depositing a toner on an electrostatic latent image. The device has two sensing circuits, i.e., a toner density sensing circuit and an image density sensing circuit. When one of the two sensing circuits fails, a toner is supplemented in response to an output of the other or normal sensing circuit. When the failed sensing circuit is restored to normal, the toner supply responsive solely to the other sensing circuit is cancelled so that both of the two sensors join in the toner supply control. When both the toner density sensors and the image density sensing means fail, the image forming apparatus is automatically disabled with the failure being displayed.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 1990Date of Patent: October 15, 1991Assignee: Ricoh Company, Ltd.Inventor: Minoru Aoki

Patent number: 4707114Abstract: An automatic image density adjusting method for an image forming device is disclosed which selects image density adequately in matching relation to any of various kinds of documents. There are selectively set up a first mode in which image density is sensed over a predetermined region of a document and, then, the operation directly enters into a copying cycle; and a second mode which occurs when the document density level sensed is different from a predetermined one and performs a different document density sensing operation. When density sensing which is performed on a density sensing region in the first mode is insufficient, the second mode is set up so that document density is sensed by prescanning an enlarged density sensing region so as to enter into a copying cycle after selecting a particular imaging condition.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 1986Date of Patent: November 17, 1987Assignee: Ricoh Company, Ltd.Inventor: Minoru Aoki

Patent number: 4011808Abstract: Automatic band strapping apparatus with a table for supporting an article during banding. An arch frame extends in the form of an upright loop from one side to another of the table. The arch frame has an elongated side wall also in the form of an upright loop in a plane substantially normal to the table. An elongated U-sectioned arch guide made of flexible plastics material such as ultra-high molecular polyethylene has a loop shape following the contour of the arch frame side wall, and one edge surface facing that side wall is opened by means of a groove. Springs press the grooved edge surface of the arch guide against the arch frame side wall thereby defining a band passage through the arch guide which is normally closed. The arch guide is locally separable from the side wall against the urgence of the springs, progressively around the length of the arch frame, providing a moderate draw-out resistance to enable release and withdrawal of band progressively and continuously from the band passage.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1975Date of Patent: March 15, 1977Assignee: Nichiro Kogyo Company, Ltd.Inventors: Minoru Aoki, Yoshiaki Kasuga
