  • Patent number: 4614733
Abstract: Polysaccharides having antitumor and other useful pharmacological activities and a process for preparing such polysaccharides are disclosed. These polysaccharides are characterized by .alpha.-bonding of the saccharide component and can be produced from the extracts obtained by the extraction of a basidiomycetous fungus belonging to the genus Coriolus or cultures thereof with an aqueous solvent.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 31, 1984
Date of Patent: September 30, 1986
Assignee: Kureha Kagaku Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha
Inventors: Chikao Yoshikumi, Takayoshi Fujii, Masahiko Fujii, Minoru Ohara, Akira Kobayashi, Tsuneo Akatsu
  • Patent number: 4555505
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for the treatment of hyperglycemia, hyperlipemia, inflammatory diseases, pains due to the accentuation of central nerve, pyrexia due to the accentuation of central nerve or tumor, which comprises administering to a patient suffering therefrom a pharmaceutically effective amount of p-aminobenzoic acid-N-L-rhamnoside or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 29, 1984
Date of Patent: November 26, 1985
Assignee: Kureha Kagaku Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha
Inventors: Chikao Yoshikumi, Yoshio Ohmura, Fumio Hirose, Masanori Ikuzawa, Kenichi Matsunaga, Takayoshi Fujii, Minoru Ohara, Takao Ando
  • Patent number: 4289688
Abstract: Disclosed in this invention are protein-bound polysaccharides having antitumor activities. The polysaccharides have molecular weight within a specified range and present a pattern of color reaction peculiar to the saccharides as well as a pattern of color reaction characteristic of amino acids and peptide bonds. The proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectra of the polysaccharides show peculiar absorption bands. The ratio of the polysaccharide portion to protein portion in the polysaccharides is within a specified range. The protein-bound polysaccharides can be obtained by extraction of the mycelia and/or fruit bodies of fungi belonging to Coriolus of Polyporaceae of Basidiomycetes.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 18, 1979
Date of Patent: September 15, 1981
Assignee: Kureha Kagaku Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha
Inventors: Tetsuya Hotta, Satoru Enomoto, Chikao Yoshikumi, Minoru Ohara, Saburo Ueno
