Abstract: A wear-resistant titanium alloy containing titanium carbides which are crystallized and/or precipitated and are dispersed in the .beta.-phase matrix is disclosed. The alloy may further comprise .alpha.-phase and/or additional hard particles dispersed in the .beta.-phase matrix.

Abstract: A device for clamping container comprises a support frame positionable around the container over approximately one half of the circumference thereof, a pair of substantially horizontal support rods provided on the inner side of the frame in the vicinity of respective opposite ends thereof, and a pair of claw plates mounted on the respective support rods upwardly and downwardly rotatable. The support rods extend away from each other in a horizontal plane toward their front ends. The claw plates have inwardly curved edges opposed to each other for the body of the container to partly fit in and each have an upper surface positioned at a higher level than the support rod. The shortest distance between the claw plates through the center of the container corresponds to the diameter of the container body, and the distance between the front ends of the claw plates is smaller than the diameter.

Abstract: A piezoelectric revolving resonator is disclosed in which a piezoelectric ceramic material in the form of a disk, a cylinder or a pipe is polarized so that two regions divided by its diameter are different in polarity from each other, and electrodes are provided to form equipotential surfaces on opposite principal surfaces and a resonant condition in which piezoelectric deformations are revolved is excited by a single-phase alternating current voltage. Due to the single-phase drive, the structures of the resonator and the drive circuit can be simplified.

Abstract: A tip attachment provided with a mount fittable to a mount receptacle in the tip part of an endoscope is made to appear within the visual field of an observing optical system provided in the tip part before the tip attachment comes to separate from a predetermined fitted state so that the tip attachment may be prevented in advance from dropping.

Abstract: A long-acting diclofenac sodium preparation is disclosed. The preparation comprises a sustained-release diclofenac sodium component which is prepared by coating a sustained-release coat onto a pharmaceutical composition comprising diclofenac sodium and an organic acid. It can decrease the maximum blood concentration of diclofenac by suppressing and controlling the rate of release of diclofenac sodium and maintain the blood concentration of diclofenac constant for a considerably long period of time. The risk of side-effect occurrences is reduced and patients is released from frequent administration of the medicine.

Abstract: Thiazolyl phenoxy derivatives are provided as well as pharmaceutical compositions containing such derivatives. The compositions are useful for lowering lipid activity in a subject and accordingly useful for reducing cholesterol and triglycerides.

Abstract: Fibrous particles resembling torn flakes of meat are prepared by mixing, kneading and beating an aqueous solution of soluble alginate and protein and/or starch with aqueous polyvalent cation gelling agent solution. The fibrous particles are typically mixed with meat paste and then shaped and cooked to produce a meat analog product having predetermined shape.

Abstract: During preparation of frozen surimi and surimi based products from fish infected with myxosporidian parasites, dried blood plasma or slightly hydrolyzed blood plasma and edible oil are added to fish meat to improve gel forming capacity and whiteness, and to reduce odor of frozen surimi and surimi based fish products.

Abstract: An endoscope includes a cap screw body rotatably mounted on a distal end member thereof and having a male threading means for mounting a cap, the cap detachably fitted on the distal end member and having a female threading means for threadably engaging with the cap screw body and a pin projectingly provided therein, and a fitting groove including an axial groove and a peripheral groove provided on the outer peripheral surface of the distal end member for fitting the pin, such that the cap is securely mounted by smoothly moving the pin along the fitting groove without binding between the male and female threading means while the pin moves within the peripheral groove.

Abstract: A fluid motor for converting reciprocation of a piston within a cylinder to rotation by a crankshaft includes a valve for supplying a fluid to the cylinder and discharging the fluid therefrom. The valve comprises a rotary valve member rotatable with the crankshaft and a fixed valve body slidably in contact with the rotary valve member. When the motor stops, at least one-half portion of a fluid intake groove formed in the rotary valve member is positioned at one side, toward a direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the rotary valve member, of a position opposed to a cylinder connection port formed in the fixed valve body so that a sufficient amount of pressure fluid can be supplied to the cylinder at the start when the motor is initiated into operation again.

Abstract: Novel coumarin compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents an imidazolyl group or a pyridyloxy group which may be substituted by lower alkyl group(s); R.sub.2 represents a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group; and m represents an integer of 1 to 6; and the salts thereof, which inhibit platelets aggregation.

Abstract: An optical adaptor incorporating a projecting optical system, view field-changing optical system and at least one index attached to said projecting optical system is provided to be attached detachably to the tip portion of insert member of an endoscope equipped with an illuminating optical system for illuminating an object and an objective optical system for focusing the object into the elongated tip of the insert member, thereby enabling measuring the length of the object by projecting the index to the plane including the object.

Abstract: This invention relates to preparation of a fish meat product, as for example imitation abalone, from comminuted fish meat which may include shell fish. Fish meat is ground with additives such as salt and suitable flavoring materials to form a sticky paste, and then formed into any desired shape, such as abalone shape. The molded meat mass is set into elastic gel form at a temperature 0.degree. to 40.degree. C., then frozen slowly at a temperature of -5.degree. to -30.degree. C., and subsequently heated to at least 70.degree. C. to sterilize.

Abstract: An endoscope includes an indicating index disposed between an objective optical system and an image transmitter so as to be movable in cooperation with the objective optical system through a cam mechanism and a stationary reference index disposed in a path for transmitting an image of an object to be observed, so that measurements of an actual size of the object, a magnification of the objective optical system, an object distance and the like can be made in a reliable manner based on the positional relationship between the indicating index and the stationary reference index, although the objective optical system moves due to a focus adjustment operation. In addition, an endoscope is provided with a plurality of the stationary reference indexes so that the above mentioned measurements can be made in a reliable manner, although the objective optical system moves by operation of an angle of view converting apparatus.
