  • Publication number: 20040139954
Abstract: A pivotally mounted arrow rest that has a support element moveable between a loaded position and an unloaded position. A bias element urges the support element toward the unloaded position. A flexible inelastic member has a first end portion fixed with respect to a bow cable and a second end portion operatively connected to the support element. When the support element is in the loaded position, the flexible inelastic member is in a tension condition.

  • Publication number: 20040139952
Abstract: An apparatus for holding an arrow with respect to an archery bow, particularly when the archery bow is carried and moved into different positions. The holding apparatus has a base portion preferably but not necessarily integrated with an upper portion. The upper portion has two opposing walls spaced apart from each other and extending outward from a top surface of the base portion. The opposing walls form a void within which a shaft of an arrow fits.

  • Patent number: 6684874
Abstract: A device for reducing vibration and shock in an archery bow includes a base and an integral body formed of a flexible material. The body includes a non-uniform cross-section as the body extends away from the base and terminates in a peripheral mass positioned on a distal portion of the body opposite the base. As a result of such an arrangement, including the alternative of positioning two devices in axial alignment on an archery bow limb, vibration and shock following discharge of an arrow are greatly reduced in the archery bow.

  • Patent number: 6431162
Abstract: An archery quiver, for holding a broadhead, having a support structure with at least one mounting bore and an insert positionable within each mounting bore. The insert has a plurality of arms which extend radially outward from a center portion of the insert, each arm forming a void for housing a blade of the broadhead. When the broadhead is in an inserted position within the insert, a plurality of areas of an inner surface of the insert preferably contact a portion of at least one of a ferrule of the broadhead and an arrow shaft attached to the broadhead to securely center the broadhead within the insert.

  • Patent number: 6142896
Abstract: An archery vane having a first side with a first surface and an opposing second side with a second surface, the second surface having a roughness greater than the roughness of the first surface. A projection is attached to the first surface. The archery vanes generate rotation of the arrow shaft about its spin axis to provide increased stability of the arrow shaft and improved flight accuracy of the arrow. Arrows having such archery vanes are easily and efficiently manufactured due to the position of the archery vanes on the arrow shaft generally parallel to the spin axis.

  • Patent number: 6102020
Abstract: An improved arrowrest is provided having a rate of motion from a first normal position to a second actuated position is greater than the rate of return motion from the second to the first position. An arrowrest is attachable to a support shaft for the arrowrest. The support shaft is moveable between the first position and the second position. As an arrow shaft discharges over the arrowrest, the support shaft moves in one direction with less frictional resistance than in a return direction.

A bearing housing is rotatably mounted with respect to the mounting bracket. The bearing housing has a throughbore and a cavity within which the pivot shaft is rotatably mounted. A tension knob is rotatably mounted within the cavity of the bearing housing. The tension knob also has a throughbore within which the pivot shaft is mounted. A spring is mounted within the cavity of the bearing housing. One end portion of the spring is fixed with respect to the pivot shaft and the opposite end portion of the spring is fixed with respect to the tension knob. • Patent number: 5871410
Abstract: An archery broadhead having a ferrule body with longitudinal grooves that accept a plurality of fixed and/or pivotal blades. At least a port ion of the ferrule body has a multiplicity of irregularities that form an irregular skin surface having a surface roughness. The irregularities enhance aerodynamic flight characteristics of the broadhead and also reduce frictional drag as the broadhead penetrates a target. The irregularities can be formed by a directional, non-directional or multi-directional set of repeating dimples, grooves, lands, stippling and/or any other suitable structure that forms a pattern, uniform or non-uniform.

  • Patent number: 5564713
Abstract: A blade-opening arrowhead wherein at least one blade, preferably two blades, are pivotally mounted with respect to a blade carrying body. A bias force is used to urge an engagement member against a corresponding blade. The bias force is preferably selected so that each blade remains in a normally closed position during flight or during handling of the arrowhead, but yet responsively and quickly moves to a fully open position upon impact or when a sufficient opening force is applied to the blade.

  • Patent number: 5560113
Abstract: A bowsight for attachment to a bow. The bowsight has a crosswire frame which is supported by a bracket held to the bow. A pin slide is formed in an inner frame member and has a cylindrical opening. The pins can emit light and are mounted in transparent discs which slide into the cylindrical opening and which are tightened by an Allen screw against a slot in the disc, thereby expanding the disc against the side of the pin slot. The transparent disc gathers surrounding light and transmits or directs the light to the light-emitting pin. A lens or a light-emitting source can be positioned in the cylindrical opening to surround the transparent disc with light. The crosswire frame may be incrementally moved up and down with respect to the bracket by locking a spring-loaded ball bearing in any one of a plurality of detents in the frame. The spring-loaded ball bearing may be forcibly engaged so that the spring is completely compressed thereby locking the ball bearing in a chosen detent.

  • Patent number: 5526799
Abstract: A mounting apparatus having a rod slidably mounted within a longitudinal bore of a housing. The rod has returnable pivoting action and adjustable, returnable plunger action, with respect to the housing. A compression spring is used to return the rod to a linear rest position after linear displacement of the rod with respect to the housing. A lock nut having a through bore is used to access a tension adjustment screw which varies the length of the compression spring.

  • Patent number: 5179930
Abstract: An arrow rest having an arrow support arm with a riser portion and a support portion. The riser portion is rotatably mounted with respect to a housing. A return spring is mounted with respect to the arrow support arm so as to urge the support portion of the arrow support arm into a rest position. The support portion has limited movement in a forward direction from a rest position to a deflected position. The support portion is allowed to deflect in a backward direction, beyond the rest position. After backward deflection, the support portion can be reset to the original rest position.

  • Patent number: 5148796
Abstract: An arrow rest for an archery bow which is quickly and easily replaceable and laterally adjustable in the field without any need for tools. The arrow rest has an arrow support arm which pivots upon movement of the arrow shaft and fletching across it and by a resilient arm hinge automatically returns to an initial predetermined position after discharge of the arrow. The arrow rest mounts on the end of an adjusting screw which extends through a hole in the handle portion of a bow. This invention provides easy lateral adjustment and complete replacement of the arrow rest in the field, without any need for tools, while maintaing the precise position and alignment of the arrow rest. This invention also provides an arrow rest that creates very little noise when an arrow shaft and fletching move across the arrow support arm.

  • Patent number: 5063678
Abstract: An archery bow sight comprising a sight mount attachable to an archery bow, a sight pin retaining sleeve adjustable by means of a mounting nut in a slot in the sight mount, and a sight pin adjustably retained in the sight pin retaining sleeve is provided. The generally V-shaped sight configuration of the sight pin provides improved target sighting and the sight pin retaining sleeve permits sight pin replacement without requiring realignment in either the vertical or horizontal adjustment plane. An optional protector is provided to shield the sight pin and retaining sleeve from direct blows, and an optional quiver attachment feature allows pivotable mounting of the quiver directly on the sight mount.
