  • Patent number: 8292285
Abstract: A sheet processing apparatus capable of maintaining alignment of sheets of a sheet bundle on a processing tray even in a job uses sheets including particular sheets. In the sheet processing apparatus (finisher), a sheet conveyed along a conveying path is retained in a buffer path. The sheet and the following sheet are stacked on a processing tray in a state superposed with a shift in a conveying direction. A finisher controller determines in advance, before a conveyed sheet reaches the buffer path, whether or not the sheet is a particular sheet having a protrusion. When the sheet retained in the buffer path and the following sheet are to be superposed one upon the other, the amount of the shift between the sheets in the conveying direction is controlled according to a result of the determination by the finisher controller.

  • Patent number: 8264714
Abstract: In a sheet conveyance system in which a plurality of apparatuses each including a communication unit with a plurality of communication channels are connected, and a sheet is conveyed between the apparatuses, each of the plurality of communication channels can be switched between a transmission mode and a reception mode. When a plurality of transmission channels are set by channel assignment, communication can be executed by giving a priority to each transmission destination. If transmission data are accumulated in an apparatus, and they include data for a transmission destination with a higher priority over the current data transmission destination, the number of transmission channels is increased, and the priority is raised.

  • Publication number: 20120070250
Abstract: An image forming apparatus that enables to execute a bookbinding process for sheet bundles without decreasing productivity. The image forming apparatus is connected to a bookbinding apparatus having a bookbinding unit that binds a book by attaching a ring to a punch hole and a buffer unit that performs a buffering process to convey sheets in piles so that sheets for a next sheet bundle are not ejected onto a sheet bundle that is being processed by the bookbinding unit. A determination unit determines whether a sheet is a type that is prohibited from buffering. A control unit adjusts an ejection order so that the sheet of the type that is prohibited from buffering is not ejected within the predetermined number of sheets from the first sheet of sheets that constitute the sheet bundle, when the determination unit determines that the sheet is the type that is prohibited from buffering.

  • Patent number: 8027044
Abstract: An image forming apparatus which makes it possible to perform image forming processing and post-processing efficiently. A job controller divides a single print job into a plurality of print jobs according to the processing capability of a post-processing apparatus. A print controller causes a printer section to perform sequential operations according to the split print jobs, to form a plurality of sets of printed sheet bundles. The sets of sheet bundles formed in association with the respective print jobs and stacked on a stacker by the operation of the print controller are sequentially brought to the post-processing apparatus, and the post-processing apparatus sequentially performs post-processing on the supplied sets of sheet bundles.

  • Patent number: 7983584
Abstract: An image forming apparatus in which surplus tabbed sheets produced in one set of output can be utilized for the next set of output, without requiring a user to perform a laborious task. In the image forming apparatus, a CPU calculates the number of tabbed sheet groups which will be used for one set of image formation and the number of tabbed sheets which will be used from among the last tabbed sheet group. Among the last tabbed sheet group, surplus tabbed sheets which will be left unused in the one set of image formation are determined. If the number of tabbed sheets is equal to or less than the number of the surplus tabbed sheets, at least one of the surplus tabbed sheets is used to carry out two sets of image formation.

  • Publication number: 20110133386
Abstract: A sheet conveying system which is capable of preventing a jammed sheet from being mixed with processed sheets, reducing waste in sheets and toners, and further alleviating the user's operations, when jamming has occurred during passing of a sheet between respective sheet conveying devices of upstream and downstream apparatuses. A puncher control section of a puncher as an upstream apparatus of the system issues a passing completion notification as to the passing of a sheet to a staple stacker control section of a staple stacker as a downstream apparatus of the system. Upon reception of the notification, when the staple stacker control section determines that the parameter of auxiliary information of the notification indicates an abnormal discharge of the sheet from the puncher, the staple stacker stops the conveyance of the sheet.
