  • Patent number: 8614662
Abstract: The present invention relates to a display control apparatus and method, and a program that are capable of appropriately controlling the luminance of light to be emitted by backlights with simple processing. On the basis of an input image signal, a peripheral-representative-value computation unit (141) computes, as a peripheral representative value, luminance that is output by backlights of a block of interest and blocks in the periphery thereof among the backlights formed from a plurality of blocks. A peripheral-contribution-amount computation unit (142) divides the peripheral representative value by light-emission efficiency based on a light-emission profile that is an output luminance distribution when the block of interest emits light so as to compute the amount of peripheral contribution by peripheral blocks to the block of interest.
