  • Publication number: 20200296704
Abstract: Devices and methods are provided for receiving a first indication and a second indication, the first indication associated with a first set of transmission parameter information for a first repetition of data received in a Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH) and the second indication associated with a second set of transmission parameter information for a second repetition of data received in the PDSCH. Each set of transmission parameter information corresponds to a Quasi-Co-Location (QCL) information for the respective repetition of data. In addition, the method involves receiving a first PDSCH repetition and a second PDSCH repetition. A channel estimate can then be performed for the first PDSCH repetition based on the QCL information for the first PDSCH repetition and a channel estimate for the second PDSCH repetition based on the QCL information for the second PDSCH repetition.

  • Patent number: 10778385
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for spreading symbols over multiple time-frequency resources that rely on simple base constellations that can be sent over a frequency tone or time slot. A set of input bits (or an input symbol) are mapped to K symbols, and a symbol-to-resource-element mapping is applied that maps the K symbols to resource units. The mapping to the K symbols may be a linear mapping that maps an input symbol to K target tones through a 2K×2 real matrix, where input symbol is a complex point in a base constellation, and is considered as a 2-dimensional real vector. Up to K co-orthogonal 2K×2 real matrices (whose columns are orthogonal to each other) can be associated with the subset of K target tones. Each of the K co-orthogonal matrices can be used for mapping of an independent symbol from a separate steam of symbols which can be associated to a single UE or separate UEs.

  • Patent number: 10771305
Abstract: Coding gains can be achieved by encoding binary data directly to multi-dimensional codewords, which circumvents QAM symbol mapping employed by conventional CDMA encoding techniques. Further, multiple access can be achieved by assigning different codebooks to different multiplexed layers. Moreover, sparse codewords can be used to reduce baseband processing complexity on the receiver-side of the network, as sparse codewords can be detected within multiplexed codewords in accordance with message passing algorithms (MPAs).

  • Patent number: 10764882
Abstract: Virtualized group-wise communications between a wireless network and a plurality of user equipments (UEs) are supported using UE cooperation. UE cooperation includes receiving, at a cooperating UE (CUE), downlink information from the wireless network destined for a target UE (TUE) and associated with a group identifier (ID). The group ID indicates a virtual multi-point (ViMP) node that includes the TUE and the CUE. The UE cooperation also includes sending the downlink information to the TUE. The UE or UE component can have a processor configured to forward between the wireless network and a TUE at least some information that is associated with a group ID indicating a ViMP node that groups the TUE and the UE.

  • Publication number: 20200260453
Abstract: A notification regarding a transition of a User Equipment (UE) from a standby operating mode to an active operating mode is exchanged between a UE and a network element in a communication network. The notification could be an uplink notification that is transmitted by the UE to the network element in response to an operating mode transition criterion for the UE being met at the UE, or a downlink notification that is transmitted by the network element to the UE in response to an operating mode transition criterion for the UE being met at the network element. The UE transitions from the standby operating mode to the active operating mode in response to the operating mode transition criterion being satisfied. The transmitter of the notification, which could be the UE or the network element, could also perform grant-free transmission of data without first receiving a response to the notification.

  • Patent number: 10660137
Abstract: Colliding random access channel messages from multiple User Equipment (UEs) attempting to access a communication system include common access information for the multiple UEs. Responses to the messages are transmitted. A response to one UE includes UE identifier information from the common access information and responses to other UEs include new UE identifier information for each other UE. In another embodiment, a random access channel message that is received from a UE includes a dedicated random access sequence that is dedicated for use by a particular UE within a coverage area of a communication system. A determination can be made as to whether the received random access channel is received from the particular UE based on any one or more of: a set of one or more access points at which, a direction from which, and a receiving antenna beam on which the received random access channel message is received.

  • Patent number: 10652851
Abstract: Methods and devices for uplink-based User Equipment (UE) tracking for UEs operating in a connected inactive operating state are provided. A transmit-receive point (TRP) transmits parameters to a UE that allow the UE to uniquely determine a UE-specific tracking sequence and assigned time-frequency (TF) resource that are independent of a TRP identifier associated with the TRP. The UE determines the UE-specific tracking sequence and assigned TF resource based at least in part on the parameters received from the TRP. While in the connected inactive operating state, the UE transmits a tracking signal that includes the UE-specific tracking sequence in accordance with the assigned TF resource. The TRP receives the tracking signal from the UE, detects the UE in accordance with the UE-specific tracking sequence to produce a UE detection status, and transmits a tracking response to the UE in accordance with the UE detection status.
