The user interfaces include unique visual representations and organizations that allow the user to utilize the intelligent television more easily and more effectively. Particularly, the user interfaces pertain to the display of VOD content and better organizations thereof. Further, the user interfaces provide unique process of transitioning between the VOD content.

Abstract: Methods and devices for minimizing and maximizing displayed output associated with applications are provided. More particularly, an application presented as two or more pages in a portrait mode can be minimized to present one of the two or more pages following a minimization operation. The page that continues to be displayed can comprise a primary or preferred page, while the page that is dismissed can comprise a secondary or ancillary page. With respect to a maximization operation received with respect to a page of an application results in the display of an additional page associated with that application. Maximization can include controlling the respective screens on which first and second pages of the maximized application are displayed.

Abstract: Methods and devices for controlling the displayed output associated with applications in connection with a multiple screen device are provided. More particularly, an application presented by the device in a dual portrait orientation can utilize the first screen to display control information, and can utilize the second screen to display content information. In one embodiment, a method for configuring operation of a display device includes receiving a configuration change from a control device, wherein the configuration change includes one or more changes for presentation of a overlay element for the display device and configuring settings for presentation of a overlay element, wherein the configuration change corresponds to a release of one or more features previously included and inaccessible to settings for presentation of the overlay element by the display device. The method also includes presenting an overlay element based on the configuring, wherein the overlay element is presented by the display device as an overlay to displayed image content. Overlay elements can include a navigation bar, an animation, a poster display, sticker display, and an application home screen.

In a preferred embodiment, one or more vibrators are used to generate vibration and/or audible signals to the user to indicate to the user the particular change in status of the device as it occurs.

The EPG information comes from EPG information sources including EPG information embedded in a content feed from a cable provider and EPG information from an internet source. The EPG information displayed can include a schedule of past, current, and upcoming TV programs. The on screen channel changer may be displayed on top of a TV program currently being viewed. The user changes the channel by making a channel number selection using the on screen channel changer.

Abstract: An intelligent television and methods for interactive channel navigation and channel switching are disclosed. Specifically, an input may be received at the intelligent television that prompts the display of a channel information card layout to a viewing area of an intelligent television. The display of the layout may depend on the input received. The layout may include at least one channel information card that can visually represent broadcast content available on a channel via an image, without tuning to a channel to retrieve the image. Upon receiving a navigational input, an alternate channel information card may be displayed in the channel information card layout or selection area. Upon receiving a selection input, the television tunes to the channel that is associated with a specific displayed channel information card.

EPG information may also be displayed on a partial-screen along with a currently playing TV program.
