  • Publication number: 20180097585
Abstract: A multi-SIM wireless device checks whether each of the (e.g., two) SIMs has received sub-frames in successive intervals prior to a current interval. If such a condition is satisfied by all the SIMs, the wireless device allocates several successive (transmit) intervals to a first SIM before allocating next successive (transmit) intervals to another SIM. If such a condition is not satisfied, the sub-intervals may be allocated according to any other approach (i.e., not constrained by the requirement of successive sets of transmit intervals to the two SIMs) as suited for the specific situation. The allocated sub-frame intervals are used to send the acknowledgements of the previously received sub-frames.

  • Publication number: 20180096851
Abstract: A method for adjusting a threshold voltage includes depositing a strained liner on a gate structure to strain a gate dielectric. A threshold voltage of a transistor is adjusted by controlling an amount of strain in the liner to control an amount of work function (WF) modulating species that diffuse into the gate dielectric in a channel region. The liner is removed.

  • Patent number: 9935333
Abstract: A novel anode for a lithium battery cell is provided. The anode contains silicon nanoparticles embedded in a solid polymer electrolyte. The electrolyte can also act as a binder for the silicon nanoparticles. A plurality of voids is dispersed throughout the solid polymer electrolyte. The anode may also contain electronically conductive carbon particles. Upon charging of the cell, the silicon nanoparticles expand as take up lithium ions. The solid polymer electrolyte can deform reversibly in response to the expansion of the nanoparticles and transfer the volume expansion to the voids.

  • Publication number: 20180088566
Abstract: An industrial data indexing system facilitates discovery and indexing of plant-wide data residing on multiple different data platforms. The indexing system automatically inventories industrial devices and other data sources located throughout a plant, and identifies available data items on each data source. The indexing system indexes the discovered data items in a federated data model that can subsequently be searched to locate data items or tags of interest. The federated data model records references to data items found on different types of data sources, including but not limited to industrial controller programs, human-machine interface applications, data historians, device documentation stores, inventory tracking systems, and other such data sources. The search system also caches selected portions of the data model to a user's personal device to allow these potions of the model to be accessed locally on the user's device without being online with the higher level indexing system.

  • Publication number: 20180089870
Abstract: A industrial visualization system generates augmented reality presentations for rendering on a user's wearable computer as the user traverses an industrial facility. The system can leverage data indexed in a federated data model that unifies plant-wide data from multiple diverse sources under a common namespace. By leveraging the unified plant data and interacting with a wearable computer worn by a user, the augmented reality presentation system provides automation system data, notifications, and proactive guidance to a user via modification of the user's view of his or her immediate surroundings. Such modifications can include superimposing data values or indicators on the user's view of a machine or automation system through the user's wearable computer. The system can customize presentation of this information based on the user's role, location, line of sight, type of wearable device, and/or other contextual information.

  • Publication number: 20180089872
Abstract: A system receives a page request for a requested document, where the requested document specifies a set of first images as being presentable within the requested document. In response to the received page request, the system modifies the requested document and generates a modified document. The modified document specifies a second image that is to be generated based on the set of first images. The system generates the second image, based on the set of first images, and provides the modified document and access to the second image. The second image is an aggregation of the first images, which are represented within the second image as sprites to be rendered with the modified document. The modified document may use these sprites by specifying regions within the second image as being presentable within the modified document, where these regions correspond to the first images.

  • Publication number: 20180088564
Abstract: An industrial workflow tracking and identification system captures optimal employee workflows for addressing maintenance issues or operating industrial systems, and renders these workflows at appropriate times in order to guide operators and maintenance personnel through optimal sequences for carrying out operations or addressing maintenance issues. The system monitors and indexes both plant-wide system data as well as employee behaviors, and identifies correlations between operational outcomes and user workflows. In this way, the system tracks and captures optimal employee workflows for addressing particular maintenance issues, performing certain procedures, or achieving preferred production outcomes.

  • Publication number: 20180083265
Abstract: The accurate determination of the state-of-charge (SOC) of batteries is an important element of battery management. One method to determine SOC is to measure the voltage of the cell and exploiting the correlation between voltage and SOC. For electrodes with sloped charge/discharge profiles, this is a good method. However, for batteries with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cathodes the charge/discharge profile is flat. Now, by using the materials and methods disclosed herein, an amount of cathode active material that has a sloped charge/discharge profile is mixed with LFP in a cathode, which results in a charge/discharge profile with enough slope that the SOC of the battery can be determined by measuring the voltage alone.

  • Publication number: 20180081900
Abstract: Embodiments described herein provide techniques for maintaining consistency in a distributed system (e.g., a distributed secondary storage system). According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, a first set of file system objects included in performing the requested file system operation is identified in response to a request to perform a file system operation. An update intent corresponding to the requested file system operation is inserted into an inode associated with each identified file system object. Each file system object corresponding to the inode is modified as specified by the update intent in that inode. After modifying the file system object corresponding to the inode, the update intent is removed from that inode.
