  • Patent number: 10275469
Abstract: Embodiments described herein provide techniques for maintaining consistency in a distributed system (e.g., a distributed secondary storage system). According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, a first set of file system objects included in performing the requested file system operation is identified in response to a request to perform a file system operation. An update intent corresponding to the requested file system operation is inserted into an inode associated with each identified file system object. Each file system object corresponding to the inode is modified as specified by the update intent in that inode. After modifying the file system object corresponding to the inode, the update intent is removed from that inode.

  • Patent number: 10263753
Abstract: In order to improve the quality of communication between electronic devices, one or more sub-channels used during communication between the electronic devices are dynamically modified based on one or more performance metrics and allowed transmit powers of the sub-channels. In particular, when the one or more performance metrics indicate that a distance between the electronic devices falls within a mid-range of distances, the one or more performance metrics may be used to guide selective changes to the sub-channels used during the communication based on the allowed transmit powers. The changes to the sub-channels used during the communication may increase, decrease or leave the total bandwidth unchanged. Moreover, by changing the sub-channels used during the communication, the allowed transmit power(s) of the sub-channel(s) used may be increased, which may improve the performance during the communication.

  • Patent number: 10255521
Abstract: A portable computing device equipped with at least one image capture device and/or a light source captures an image (or a video) of a portion of a surface of interest having the damage that is exposed to a light from the light source. The portable computing device converts the image to an output image that highlights the damage. If the damage is a dent, the image is converted to a false color image using a saliency algorithm. If the damage is a scratch, the image is converted to a colorspace stretched image using color stretching algorithms. The size of the damage is determined by capturing an image of a ruler placed adjacent to the damage and the portion of surface of interest having the damage. The ruler is then removed from the image. The resulting image is converted to the output image. The ruler is added to the output image.

  • Publication number: 20190102464
Abstract: Devices often receive content items to be saved for later presentation to a user. In some instances, the content of the message is analyzed to retrieve supplemental information from external data sources, such as a map to a location discussed in a message. However, such supplementing often fails to reflect the personal context of the content item to the user, who may not easily recall the associated personal context when the content item is later presented. Instead, for a content item to be saved, a device may evaluate personal data sources to identify the personal context of the content item to the user, and add personal context annotations to a content item record of the saved content item. Later, during a presentation of the content item to the user, the personal context annotations may be included as a reflection of the personal context of the content item to the user.

  • Publication number: 20190103927
Abstract: Embodiments include techniques for transmitting and receiving radio frequency (RF) signals, where the techniques for generating, via a digital analog converter (DAC), a frequency signal, and filtering the frequency signal to produce a first filtered signal and a second filtered signal. The techniques also include transmitting the second filtered signal to a device under test, and filtering the second filtered signal into a sub-signal having one or more components. The techniques include mixing the first filtered signal with the sub-signal to produce a first mixed signal, subsequently mixing the first mixed signal with an output signal received from the device under test to produce a second mixed signal, and converting the second mixed signal for analysis.

  • Publication number: 20190098507
Abstract: Wireless communication between two electronic devices may be used to determine a distance between the two devices, even in the presence of an otherwise-disruptive attacker. A wireless receiver system of one device may receive a true wireless ranging signal from a first transmitting device and a false wireless ranging signal from an attacker. The wireless receiver system may correlate the wireless signals with a known preamble sequence and perform channel estimation using the result, obtaining a channel impulse response for the wireless signals. The wireless receiver system may filter the channel impulse response for the plurality of wireless signals by removing at least part of the channel impulse response due to the false wireless ranging signal while not removing at least part of the channel impulse response due to the true wireless ranging signal. The receiver system may perform a wireless ranging operation using the filtered channel impulse response.

  • Publication number: 20190097664
Abstract: A transceiver that allows dynamic high-pass filter (HPF) cut-off frequency adjustment may include a mixer circuit to mix a local oscillator (LO) signal with a receive (RX) signal received from a transmitter to generate a baseband signal. The transceiver may further include a high-pass filter (HPF) having an adjustable cut-off frequency that is used to reduce a DC offset of the baseband signal. A control circuit can dynamically control components of the HPF to set the adjustable cut-off frequency at a first frequency during a first time period and at a second frequency during a second time period.

  • Patent number: 10242955
Abstract: An active tamper detection circuit with bypass detection is provided. A bypass detection circuit is coupled to an active mesh loop. The bypass detector includes a voltage comparator with a variable hysteresis control circuit and a calibration engine. The bypass detector detects a change in impedance in the mesh when an attacker attempts to bypass the active loop using a wire. As part of a boot-up sequence, the calibration engine runs a hysteresis sweep on the voltage comparator and stores a hysteresis sweep boot-up signature. When bypass protection is enabled, the bypass detector runs a hysteresis sweep of the voltage comparator periodically at a predetermined interval. Each sweep generates a generated signature that is compared to the stored boot-up signature. Any signature mismatch will be signaled as an impedance mismatch, or tamper. The hysteresis step size is also programmable. The calibration engine can make small changes to the boot-up signature to allow for small voltage variations.
