Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for grouping tabbed portions of a display object based on content relationships and user interaction levels are disclosed. According to one method, a display object including one or more tabbed portions is provided for display via a computer display device. A level of user interaction associated with each of the tabbed portions is monitored. User input for adding new information to the display object is received. A level of content relationship between the new information and the information including in the at least one of the tabbed portions is determined. A new tabbed portion is created and grouped with the at least one tabbed portion based on the determined level of content relationship and the level of user interaction associated with the at least one tabbed portion.

Abstract: A system for naming a location includes a mobile communication device equipped with a position locator system that is configured to identify a location of the device, a first data store for storing general information that is managed by or for an entity other than the user and that is related to the location, a second data store for storing user-specific information that is managed by or for the user, and a name generation module. According to aspects of one embodiment, the name generation module is configured to receive the location of the mobile communication device, to retrieve from the first data store general information relating to the location, and to generate a name for the location based on an atemporal correlation between the general information and the user-specific information.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for identifying a container associated with a plurality of files are disclosed. According to one aspect, a method includes providing for associating a file with a container associated with at least one file to form a plurality of associated files. The prevailing metadata is not required to be from all of the plurality of associated files. Further, the container may be identified based on the prevailing metadata.

Abstract: A method for providing a descriptor of a location to a recipient includes receiving geographical position data of the location from a user and using the geographical position data to identify a plurality of regions near or including the location. Each region is associated with a descriptor. The recipient's level of familiarity with each of the regions is determined and a region is selected based on the recipient's level of familiarity with the selected region. Once the region is selected, the descriptor associated with the selected region is provided to the recipient via the user.

Abstract: A method and system is provided for automatically determining a sensitivity level of a resource and automatically applying presentation attributes to a resource based on attributes of a user environment in which the resource is presented. Aspects of this embodiment include monitoring attributes of a user environment in which a first instance of information related to a resource is presented to a user; determining attributes of the resource for which the first instance of information is presented; detecting a user-initiated change in a presentation attribute of the instance of information; following detection of the user-initiated change in the presentation attribute, storing the user environment attributes and the changed presentation attribute in association with the resource; and automatically determining a sensitivity level of the resource based on the detected user-initiated change in the presentation attribute and the user environment attributes.

Abstract: A method for presenting a route includes receiving a starting point and a destination point and computing a route that includes a route segment between the two points. The method further includes determining, based on a user's travel history, whether the route segment is an unfamiliar segment, and identifying, based on the user's travel history, a road that is familiar to the user and that is within a scaled range of the unfamiliar segment. The computed route and the familiar road are then presented in a format that distinguishes the familiar road from the computed route, and the familiar road is represented relative to the unfamiliar segment.

Abstract: An image-based navigation method and system are provided. In response to a user request submitted to a navigation system, the image-based navigation system provides directions to the user, wherein the directions include one or more route segments, and at least one digital image of a view along at least one of the route segments. In a further aspect, the directions are provided to the user by displaying a map of the route along with the route segments, wherein when each of the route segments is displayed, any images associated with the corresponding route segment are also displayed.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for associating an image with a communication characteristic are disclosed. According to one method, a content characteristic of a first image may be identified. Communication of the first image may be monitored to identify a communication characteristic of the first image. Further, the content characteristic may be associated with the communication characteristic. The association between the content and communication characteristics may be used to associate a second image having the content characteristic with the communication characteristic.

Abstract: An image-based navigation method and system are provided. In response to a user request submitted to a navigation system, the image-based navigation system provides directions to the user, wherein the directions include one or more route segments, and at least one digital image of a view along at least one of the route segments. In a further aspect, the directions are provided to the user by displaying a map of the route along with the route segments, wherein when each of the route segments is displayed, any images associated with the corresponding route segment are also displayed.

Abstract: A method for providing information with digital images includes receiving a digital image of a subject, the digital image including as metadata a geographic position of the subject and other information associated with generating a path to the subject. A path to the subject from the source location can then be generated based on a geographic position of the source location and the metadata included with the digital image. The metadata can be stored on a mobile device and an alert provided when the mobile device is near the geographic position of the subject or if a trajectory of the mobile device does not match the generated path. Relationships with other digital images having associated metadata may also be included. Thus, users have the ability to use their image capture devices to intelligently share digital images of subjects and knowledge of the subjects, delivering greater value from these devices.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for displaying windows on a graphical user interface based on relative priorities associated with the windows are disclosed. According to one method, relative priorities of a plurality of windows of a graphical user interface are determined. Further, relative priorities of a plurality of portions of at least one of the windows are determined. The windows are automatically arranged on the graphical user interface based on the relative priorities of the windows and based on the relative priorities of the portions. A higher priority window may cover a lower priority portion of a lower priority window to provide for a simultaneous viewing of the higher priority window and a higher priority portion of the lower priority window.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for protecting information on a user interface based on a viewability of the information are disclosed. According to one method, a viewing position of a person other than a user with respect to information on a user interface is identified. An information viewability threshold is determined based on the information on the user interface. Further, an action associated with the user interface is performed based on the identified viewing position and the determined information viewability threshold.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods, systems, and computer program products for identifying sensitive data from a user-entered input sequence based on user-defined criteria. According to one method, user-defined criteria for identifying sensitive data within user-entered input sequences that include sensitive data and padding data are received. A request for sensitive data from a requesting agent is presented. A user-entered input sequence that includes sensitive data and padding data is received in response to the request for sensitive data. Sensitive data is identified within the user-entered input sequence using the user-defined criteria. The identified sensitive data is provided to the requesting agent in response to the request for sensitive data.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for reconfiguring an operational mode of an input interface based on a privacy level are disclosed. According to one method, at least one of an environment in which data is being entered into a computer via an input interface and a destination for the data being entered is identified. An input interface privacy level is determined based on the identified at least one of the environment and the data destination. The input interface is reconfigured to operate in a mode corresponding to the determined input interface privacy level.

Abstract: A method for organizing messages received and transmitted between at least two computer systems over a network and a system configured to implement the method are described. In one aspect, the method includes tracking where a user is gazing as the user is composing an outgoing message on a first computer system. During a composition time period in which the user is composing the outgoing message, a relevance rating for each of a plurality of gaze areas is determined. Each gaze area is associated with one of a plurality of messages displayed by the first computer system, and the relevance rating of a gaze area is based on a number of times the user's gaze dwells on the displayed message associated with the gaze area after the user's gaze is directed away from the displayed message.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products are disclosed for presenting topical information referenced during a communication. A topic key phrase is received during a communication between a first party and a second party. A topic descriptor associated with the topic key phrase is identified. A topic descriptor weight associated with the identified topic descriptor is determined. A topic descriptor presentation threshold is determined based on a relationship between the first party and the second party. The topic descriptor weight is compared with the determined topic descriptor presentation threshold. The topic descriptor is presented based on the comparison.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods, systems, and computer program products for identifying sensitive application-layer data and controlling transmission of the data in a network. According to one method, sensitive data in a system resource is identified at an application layer. A packetization of the identified sensitive data is detected. A flag indicative of the presence of sensitive data is inserted in a packet having at least a portion of the identified sensitive data in response to identifying the sensitive data and detecting the packetization. The flag is inserted in a portion of the packet corresponding to a layer other than the application layer. Transmission of the packet is controlled in a network based on the flag.

Abstract: A method for providing user comments relating to a scene captured by an image capture device and a digital imaging device configured to implement the method are described. In one aspect, a scene to be captured is displayed to a user through a display device of the image capture device. The image capture device uses an eye-tracking system to track where the user is gazing as the user views the scene, and detects and collects a user input that comprises user comments. While the user views the scene, a processor in the image capture device associates the user input with a location in the scene corresponding to an area where the user is gazing.

Abstract: A method and system are provided for selecting and presenting a route to a user. An exemplary embodiment includes storing at least a portion of routes taken by a plurality of users; receiving from a particular user a request for at least one recommended route from an origination point to a destination point; formulating a query based on user specified parameters to obtain routes taken by other users, wherein the specified parameters include the origination point, the destination point and characteristics of other users of other users; retrieving a plurality of the stored routes taken by other users in response to the query; and presenting the at least one recommended route to the particular user using at least one of the received routes that most closely matches the specified parameters.

Abstract: A method for processing data entered using an electronic device and an electronic device capable of implementing the method is described. In one embodiment, the electronic device includes at least one multi-value key associated with at least two input data values. Each multi-value key includes a plurality of units and each input data value corresponds to at least one unit. The electronic device also includes an eye-tracking system that determines an area where a user is gazing by monitoring eye movements of the user, and an input value selection module coupled to the plurality of units and to the eye-tracking system. The input value selection module determines probabilistically which input data value was entered based on a value received from at least one unit and on the area where the user is gazing.
