  • Patent number: 10867181
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for temporally distributing the display of augmented reality (AR) information to reduce cognitive load on a user. In an exemplary embodiment, each item of AR information is associated with a respective real-world object. A cognitive demand score is determined for each item together with its associated real-world object. AR information items are distributed among a plurality of sets in such a way that (i) the total cognitive demand scores in the respective sets are substantially equalized and (ii) AR information items within a set do not obscure one another. Each set of AR information items is then displayed sequentially, with the items in different sets being displayed at different times.

  • Patent number: 10666664
Abstract: Systems and methods are described that permit social media users to delay posting social media updates to various social media recipients based on location privacy concerns. In one embodiment, a social media update created by a user is received. A location-based suggested time delay associated with a social media recipient is generated. The user is presented with the location-based suggested time delay, and a user-selected time delay is received. The social media update is sent to the social media recipient only after the user-selected time delay elapses.

  • Patent number: 10620900
Abstract: A method and system for operating a reputation sharing system is disclosed. The method includes detecting an object of interest at an augmented reality system. The method also includes receiving user annotation information, detecting and preparing object recognition information, and detecting and preparing motion information associated with the object of the interest at the augmented reality system. The augmented reality system sends a set of information associated with the object of interest to a reputation service. The set of information includes the object recognition information, the motion information, and the annotation information.

  • Publication number: 20200074740
Abstract: Systems and methods described herein are provided for receiving location information for a real-world object in a user's augmented reality (AR) view, determining a direction of travel of a user, determining an activity zone shape associated with the direction of travel, responsive to a determination that the real-world object is within the activity zone, rendering on an AR display AR information associated with the real-world object at a location outside an area of the AR display used to display the activity zone. Some embodiments continue to display AR information in the same location if the user changes his or her gaze to read the AR information. Some embodiments render on an AR display subtle highlighting if an object is inside an activity zone and prominent highlighting if an object is outside an activity zone.

  • Publication number: 20190355153
Abstract: Information may be provided for review by an augmented reality (AR) user. A system may store a plurality of scenes viewed by the AR user, and for each scene information identifying (i) any pairs of real-life objects and AR augmentations presented in the scene and (ii) any pairs in the scene with which the user interacted. The system may also select from the stored plurality of scenes a first subset of scenes such that each pair with which the user interacted is presented in at least one scene in the first subset of scenes. Responsive to an instruction from the user to review historical AR information, the system may present to the user the selected first subset of scenes. The first subset may be selected such that each pair with which the user interacted is presented in at least one scene in which the user interacted with that pair.

  • Publication number: 20190347862
Abstract: Augmented reality information may be presented to a user without overloading the user with an extraordinary amount of information. AR information may be selectively presented to the user in iterative ranges from the user in the user's field of view. Real-world objects in the user's field of view may be detected. A first group of objects may be selected that are less than a first distance from the user in the field of view, and a second group of objects selected that are between the first distance and a second greater distance in the field of view. At a first time, the first group of objects may be augmented to the user. At a second time after the first time, the second group of objects may be augmented to the user. The first group may stop being augmented prior to the second time.

  • Patent number: 10448098
Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and systems for contextual adjustment of thresholds of user interestedness for triggering video recording. An embodiment takes the form of a method that includes identifying one or more current contextual attributes of a current context of a user. The method also includes setting a current value of a stored interestedness threshold based at least in part on the one or more identified current contextual attributes. The method also includes obtaining one or more current physiological measurements of the user. The method also includes deriving an interestedness score based at least in part on the one or more obtained current physiological measurements. The method also includes comparing the derived interestedness score to the current value of the stored interestedness threshold. The method also includes initiating video recording when the derived interestedness score exceeds the current value of the stored interestedness threshold.

  • Publication number: 20190154455
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for improved navigation assistance by providing overview directions focusing on points where other users tend to make mistakes or display emotional responses, such as stress, that indicate that they feel they may make mistakes. In an exemplary method, a navigation process receives information about a present user's navigation route, the present user's status, and the user history. The navigation service compiles the received information and determines an enhanced navigation route.

  • Patent number: 10200821
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for identifying a location to be named including determining user-specific location information for a mobile device, the user-specific location information including at least one of a number of times a mobile device user is present at or near a location and an amount of time the mobile device user is present at or near the location. The location is identified as a location of interest based on the determined user-specific location information. One or more suggested names are determined for the location based on the identifying the location as the location of interest. A user prompt for selecting the location of interest from the one or more suggested names for the location is provided for presenting at the mobile device. An indication that the location is the location of interest is received from the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 10133780
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for determining availability of presentable content are disclosed. According to one aspect, an identification of first presentable content is received during presentation of the first presentable content in a first content format. Further, a request for second presentable content corresponding to the first presentable content is transmitted, the request including information identifying the first presentable content. Further, in response to the request, results from a search are received. The results including an identification of second presentable content available in a second content format, wherein the search is based on the information associated with the first presentable content included in the request. Further, an indication is presented that the second presentable content is available in the second content format.

  • Publication number: 20180293303
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for providing sensor data based on user interest. In an exemplary method, a subject of a user search is detected. The subject of the user search may be, for example, a particular location, such as a city or hotel, or a type of object, such as a model of car or a household appliance. When results of the search are displayed to a user, user interest in a particular phrase in the results may be detected, e.g. by detecting that the user is gazing at the phrase. In response, the system automatically identifies sensor type associated with the phrase, retrieves sensor data from sensors of the identified sensor type, and presenting the retrieved sensor data to the user.
