  • Patent number: 4390508
Abstract: A process for the production of aluminum oxide from aluminum compounds containing fluorine comprising:(1) extracting aluminum ions with an organic solvent containing one or more compounds selected from the groups of alkyl phosphoric acid, alkyl and aryl thio phosphoric acid, carboxylic acid and hydroxime together with a petroleum hydrocarbon as a diluent;(2) preparing aluminum compounds containing fluorine by stripping the aluminum ions in the resultant organic solvent from the step (1) in contact with an aqueous solution containing one or more compounds selected from the groups of HF, NH.sub.4 HF.sub.2, NH.sub.4 F or KHF.sub.2 and simultaneously regenerating the organic solvent; and(3) producing aluminum oxide by heating the resultant aluminum compounds containing fluorine from the step (2) in gas stream containing oxygen or H.sub.2 O.

  • Patent number: 4349514
Abstract: A process for recovery of reusable chromic acid from waste chromic acid solution containing impurities, which process comprises a first step in which the solution containing chromic acid is introduced into the cathode compartment in an electro-dialysis process and free chromic acid or chromate ions in the above solution are transferred to the anode compartment, a second step in which H.sub.2 SO.sub.4 is added in at least equivalent amounts to the heavy metallic ion contained in the outlet solution, in which chromic acid ion concentration is reduced, in order to convert chemical species of the contained metallic ion and increase the H.sup.+ ion concentration and then chromate ions in the resultant solution are extracted into an organic phase with contact of an organic solvent (A), and a third step in which residual amounts of chromic acid ion remaining in the aqueous raffinate from the second step are extracted into an organic phase with contact of an organic solvent (B).

  • Patent number: 4210502
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for recovery of waste H.sub.2 SO.sub.4 and HCl which are used for pickling metallic materials and articles and contain a large quantities of Fe ions. Furthermore, it offers a process for the recovery of H.sub.2 SO.sub.4 and HCl from waste H.sub.2 SO.sub.4 which contains large amounts of Fe ions after removal of Ti ions by a hydrolysis process in the production of TiO.sub.2 and also for the recovery of high-purity electrolytic iron or iron hydroxide.

  • Patent number: 4166098
Abstract: A process for treating an acid waste liquid containing Fe ions which has been used for acid washing of metallic materials or articles, comprising the first stage where an organic solvent (A) is added to the acid waste liquid to extract Fe ions, the second stage where an acid is added to the resulting acid waste liquid to convert chemical species of remaining metal salts and increase the hydrogen ion concentration followed by addition of an organic solvent (B) to recover the mineral acid of concern by extraction, the third stage where an organic solvent (C) is added to the resulting acid waste liquid to extract and recover other required mineral acids, and regenerating each of the organic solvents (A), (B) and (C) in respective stages.
