  • Patent number: 4730223
Abstract: A method of converting a digital video signal including first words each being composed of N.sub.1 bits into a digital video signal which consists of second words each being composed of N.sub.2 bits (N.sub.2 <N.sub.1) by separating each of the first words into a first portion which consists of the N.sub.2 bits including a most significant bit and a second portion which consists of the remaining (N.sub.1 -N.sub.2) bits including a least significant bit, and storing the first portions of the first words and the second portions. Third words each of which consists of N.sub.2 bits are then composed by sequentially arranging the second portions. A first group of words which represent converted digital image signal are composed by first portions, and a second group of words are composed by sequentially linking the third words. Each scanning line of a converted digital video signal is then composed by the second group of words sequentially arranged before or after the first group of words.

  • Patent number: 4670797
Abstract: An improved 8-8 mpping table system in digitally and magnetically recording video signals. Video signals coded into natural binary codes consisting of 8 bits are converted into different binary codes consisting of 8 bits constituted by patterns in which a continuous number of the 1's or the 0's does not exceed a predetermined number. In these codes, the continuous number of the 1's or the 0's is so limited that a maximum magnetization interval is reduced in magnetically recording the signals. Therefore, erroneous code is prevented from occurring in reproducing the signals.

  • Patent number: 4661956
Abstract: Parity bits (check bits) having a relatively high redundancy are added to upper significant bits of a digital signal, and parity bits having a relatively low redundancy, are added to the lower significant bits of the digital signal. The signal and the parity bits are recorded on a recording medium. The position of an error in a data block group of the lower bits reproduced from the recording medium is estimated as existing in a block in which the error is detected by the check of the data block group of the upper bits, and in the blocks preceding and subsequent to the former. This error correction method is most suitable for a recording and reproduction system of digital video signals.

  • Patent number: 4653052
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for decoding double-encoding codes in which the information to be decoded comprises a first data and a second data. The operation for decoding double-encoding codes is achieved through two stages. A decoder of the first stage checks the first data, and when an error is found in the first data, all symbols of the first data are assumed to be wrong. The first-stage decoder then adds an erasure flag to all symbols to generate erasure symbols. As a result, these erasure symbols include the symbols which are actually erroneous and those which are correct. A decoder of the second stage is used to perform an error correction on the second data. For this purpose, the second-stage decoder detects the number of erasure symbols which are contained in the second data and which are actually erroneous.

  • Patent number: 4467347
Abstract: The present invention relates to a color imaging device which suppresses false color signals appearing in an area where the difference of brightnesses is great in the horizontal or vertical direction. When the correlation between picture elements adjacent in the vertical direction is little and the false signal appears in a boundary part in the vertical direction, the false signal is detected, whereupon a color signal is demodulated by utilizing the correlation between the signals of picture elements in the horizontal direction. On the other hand, when the correlation between picture elements adjacent in the horizontal direction is little and the false signal appears in a boundary part in the horizontal direction, the false signal is detected, whereupon a color signal is demodulated by utilizing the correlation between the signals of picture elements in the vertical direction. As a result, the moire phenomenon attributed to the false color signals can be conspicuously reduced.

  • Patent number: 4455569
Abstract: A color imaging apparatus having a plurality of image pickup tubes which pick up respective optical images of primary colors separated from one optical image includes a registration control circuit which operates to hold a picture of high quality at all times by controlling the registration of the images of the respective image pickup tubes on a real time basis during the operation of the camera. To this end a circuit detects those local image signals which satisfy predetermined requisites which are most favorable for use as reference signals to control the registration and these detected image signals are temporarily stored so as to be used for the registration operation. The most favorable requisites of the local image areas selected for registration control are (1) those having no movement, (2) those having a contour which is sharp and (3) those having a chroma which is low.

  • Patent number: 4413284
Abstract: This invention relates to a solid-state imaging apparatus wherein photo signals are read out through MOS type FETs from photosensors such as photodiodes arrayed in two dimensions in large numbers, and consists in remarkably enhancing the signal-to-noise ratio of an output signal by reducing or eliminating noise components to mix into the photo signals. The analysis of the noise components has revealed the correlation in which the noise component in a certain polarity develops in the opposite polarity again after a period that is shorter than one horizontal scanning period by the duration of one horizontal scanning pulse. With note taken of the correlation, a solid-state imaging apparatus comprising a processing circuit which includes a delay circuit and an adder circuit and which cancels the noise is provided.
