Abstract: A seat with a trim cover assembly having plural stitches thereon, wherein the stitches are arranged in a non-parallel relation with one another on one unitary sheet of the trim cover assembly which is affixed over a cushion body. Those patterns of stitches are formed at one time by means of a multiple-needle sewing machine.
Abstract: A cushion body including a continuous coil-spring assembly which comprises coil portions and linear connection portions, and a method for forming such cushion body. The continuous coil-spring assembly is pressingly inserted into a jig, and both jig and coil-spring assembly are subject to a low-temperature annealing treatment. Thus-treated coil-spring is then foamed with a urethane base material in a mold, so as to produce such sort of cushion body.
Abstract: A method of feeding a unitary sheet of trim cover assembly to a multiple-needle sewing machine for creating plural stitches thereon, in which non-parallel stitches are formed among parallel stitches on the trim cover assembly by means of a guide member having a sloped portion. The sloped configuration of the guide member causes formation of sloped, folded portion in the trim cover assembly, and the trim cover assembly with such folded portion is fed to the multiple-needle sewing machine.
Abstract: In a seat for use in an automotive vehicle, a trim cover is bonded at least at its seat base partly only to a molded polyurethane foam functioning as a seat cushion member and is not substantially bonded at its flap and side parts to the molded polyurethane foam, so that an internal defect can be easily repaired by merely stripping off a corresponding portion of the trim cover. The trim cover may consist of a cover member only, or a filler pad may be only locally bonded to the cover member. The molded polyurethane foam may be formed by foaming and molding a polyurethane resin solution or may be supplied in the form of a slab.
Abstract: A locking device for a slide rail in a vehicle seat, and particularly for a pair of slide rails which each have an upper rail and a lower rail, said upper rail being formed by two half rail members. The locking device in the present invention includes a pair of stoppers which are slidably provided within the two half rail members respectively of the two upper rails such as to be vertically movable therein, a plurality of holes formed in the lower rails, into which holes the stopper is to be engaged, and a lever rod which is operatively connected with the stopper. Single operation of the lever rod causes engagement and disengagement of the stoppers into and from the holes for locking and unlocking of the slide rails at one time.
Abstract: A seat cushion for a vehicle is made by integrally molding a block of foamed polyurethane and coiled metal spring members. The spring members are disposed in a seat base portion or side portions of the seat cushion where a suitable hardness or repulsive elasticity is required to asist the restoring force of the layer of the foamed polyurethane lying on the spring members.
Abstract: An apparatus for manufacturing an automotive seat, comprising a revolvable body, plural padding securing members or plural upper molding dies provided around the revolvable body, and a horizontally movable plural lower molding dies disposed under the revolvable body, the lower molding dies being movable horizontally relative to said revolvable body.Disclosed also is a method for manufacturing an automotive seat, using such apparatus.According to those apparatus and method, the manufacturing steps are carried out smoothly, with one step being effected during another step, and by virtue of the lower molding dies being horizontally moved, the apparatus can be installed in a small place.
Abstract: A method for assembling a framework of a vehicle seat, which is directed to assembling a non height adjustable framework with no height adjuster, from a height adjustable framework having the height adjuster, using the components of the latter wherein a bracket is provided on a slide adjuster and the height adjuster is interposed between a seat frame and the bracket. The method involves the steps of untilizing all of the components of the height adjustable frame, except for the height adjuster, forming an inwardly recessed area in the bracket, and welding the inwardly recessed area to the seat frame, to thereby assemble a non height adjustable framework having non such height adjuster and thus permit using in common the components of those two different frameworks.
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of making a seat-like object comprising a leather touch surface layer and a urethane cushion body stuck together. It uses a weld sheet intervening between the surface layer and the cushion body in place of application of an adhesive substance to the surface layer and the cushion body. The weld sheet when heated above its melting temperature, will weld and stick the surface layer and the cushion body together, maintaining the leather touch over the whole surface area of the product, still allowing air to pass in or out.
Abstract: In a method of making an integrally foam-molded seat by disposing a trim cover in a molding cavity of a mold used for molding a polyurethane foam and having a seat surface pattern embossed on its inner wall of the molding cavity, injecting a polyurethane resin solution into the molding cavity of the mold and foaming the polyurethane resin to mold the polyurethane foam integrally combined with the trim cover, a material not adhesive to the polyurethane resin is applied onto an inner surface of at least a side part of the trim cover, so that at least the side part of the trim cover may not adhere to the corresponding portion of the molded polyurethane foam, and a defect such as a void present in the moded polyurethane foam can be easily repaired is such a void is found in the product.
Abstract: A seat comprising a cover member (3) bonded to a molded polyurethane foam (2) along a surface of the latter, wherein, instead of a continuous one-piece cover member, a cover member cut and split into individual parts or a locally-cut cover member is used, and portions of the cover member parts to be bonded or necessary portions of the locally-cut cover members are buried and fixed in grooves of the molded polyurethane foam (2) to construct a three-dimensional seat shape.

Abstract: A slide rail device for a vehicle seat adapted for adjustment of fore-and-aft positions of the seat, comprising an upper rail fixed to the seat and a lower rail slidably fitted to the upper rail, with one end of a seat belt being secured to the upper rail, in which the lower rail encloses the upper rail, with such an arrangement that an upper inverted-U-shaped portion of the lower rail is disposed above a substantially U-shaped shoulder portion of the upper rail, a lateral wall portion of the lower rail is inclined in conformity with a direction of an upward pulling force exerted via the seat belt upon the upper rail, and the shoulder portion of the upper rail is so formed as to accommodate the end of the upper inverted-U-shaped portion of the lower rail, to thereby prevent the separation of the upper rail, from the lower rail.

Abstract: A decorative member such as a welt or a button attached to a surface layer of a seat cushion, and a method and apparatus for forming such a decorative member are disclosed. In the method and apparatus, an upper plate is disposed for vertical movement relative to a lower plate, and a pair of holding members defining an insertion space between their upper end portions are vertically or horizontally movably mounted on the lower plate. A covering and a core providing the decorative member are inserted in the insertion space, and a seat cushion is placed between the upper and lower plates with its surface layer facing the holding members. The upper plate is urged downward toward the lower plate to compress the seat cushion onto the holding members while, at the same time, enclosing the core in the covering in the cooperation with the holding members. High frequency current is supplied to complete the decorative member and to weld it to the surface layer of the seat cushion.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of making a cushion body of synthetic resin with an ultrasonic welder. Ultrasonic heating and welding permits the formation of laminated synthetic resin material into a desired ornamental shape without causing any shearing effect therein.
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a cushion material by welding under heat a first layer to an adjoining second layer at necessary portions of the latter by use of a welding member having a plurality of pressure applying projections. The material of the second layer is deformed and molten and flows at temperatures higher than those of the material of the first layer. In the method, the surface portions of the first layer not engaged by the welding member and lying closer to the welding member and/or the welding member itself are cooled by cooling gas thereby welding the first layer to the second layer without giving rise to any appreciable thermal change on the surface of the first layer except the portions engaged by the welding member.

Abstract: A seat frame with an integrally built-in slide rail mechanism, in which a seat-frame side member and a member corresponding to the upper member of the slide rail are integrally combined into a frame structure defining an internal space of closed section, and principal parts of the slide rail mechanism, including a stopper actuated by a handle through a lever, are disposed in this internal space. A slide-rail lower member disposed beneath the corresponding member is formed with locking slots with which engaging lugs of the stopper are engageable so that the seat frame can be locked in any desired position and unlocked to make longitudinal movement along the slide rails.
