  • Patent number: 7008807
Abstract: A photosensitive resin applied onto a substrate is exposed using a mask. In this exposure step, by appropriately setting the size of each light transmitting portion formed in the mask and an exposure gap, an exposure intensity profile on a surface of a photosensitive resin is formed so as to have an increasing and decreasing curve along the surface thereof. When the exposure is performed in accordance with the exposure intensity profile, followed by development, a resin layer having surface irregularities is formed. Subsequently, a reflection layer made of a metal thin film or the like is formed on this resin layer.

  • Publication number: 20060007530
Abstract: A substrate is provided with a light reflection film in which the heights of a plurality of convex portions or the depths of concave portions formed on a base material are specified to be substantially the same. The two-dimensional shapes of the plurality of convex portions or concave portions are specified to be the two-dimensional shapes of independent circles and polygons, or of either of them. In addition, the plurality of convex portions or concave portions are arranged in the direction of the plane on a random basis. The substrate is formed using a mask in which light transmission portions or light non-transmission portions are formed in units of dots, the number thereof being smaller than the number of dot regions. The dots are arranged irregularly in each of the units, and a plurality of units are included.

  • Patent number: 6919943
Abstract: In a pair of substrates which sandwich a liquid crystal therebetween, a substrate 2a for a liquid crystal device that is positioned opposite from the viewing side. A pixel electrode 9 is formed on the surface of a base 6a as a light reflecting film. A pattern in which a plurality of convexities 10c are arranged is formed on the surface of the light reflecting film 9. These convexities 10c are formed into rectangular dome shapes such that the spatial shape thereof that extends along one axis of the two orthogonal X, Y axes that pass through said convexities themselves is different from the spatial shape thereof along the other axis. The light reflecting film 9 achieves both light directivity and light scattering.

  • Patent number: 6867831
Abstract: A substrate for an electrooptical device includes a base 1 having a plurality of display dots D, an underlayer 4 formed on the base 1, a reflective layer 2 formed on the underlayer 4, and color layers 3r, 3g, and 3b formed on the reflective layer 2. The underlayer 4 is provided at regions corresponding to the display dots D, but is not provided at regions between the display dots D. In addition, concave areas are provided at regions between the display dots D, and a light-shielding layer 3k is provided to fill the concave areas. Accordingly, the light-shielding layer 3k, and the-color layers 3r, 3g, and 3b are level with each other.

  • Publication number: 20040160553
Abstract: A substrate is provided for an electro-optical device comprising a substrate, a base layer formed on the substrate and having a plurality of concave portions or convex portions on the surface thereof, and a reflecting layer formed on the base layer and having light reflecting property, wherein a plurality of concave portions or convex portions is formed so as not to extend to the edge of the base layer. According to this construction, a surface provided with concavo-convex portions is spaced apart from the edge of the base layer. Therefore, the sidewall surface that forms the edge is substantially flat. As a result, the base layer does not peel from the substrate when developing the photosensitive material which becomes the base layer.

  • Patent number: 6757037
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device is provided with a plurality of color filters 12R, 12G, and 12B corresponding to colors of red base, green base, and blue base, respectively, and a reflection layer 22 placed on the side opposite to observation side with respect to a liquid crystal and color filters 12. A plurality of fine crest portions and trough portions are formed on the surface of the reflection layer 22. In the reflection layer 22, the mirror reflectivity of the region facing the color filter of at least one color is different from the mirror reflectivities of the regions facing the color filters of the other colors. Specifically, the mirror reflectivity of the region facing the blue-based color filter 12B in the reflection layer 22 is higher than the mirror reflectivities of the regions facing the red-based and green-based color filters 12R and 12G in the reflection layer 22.

  • Patent number: 6686985
Abstract: Pixel electrodes corresponding to RGB colors are shifted by half a pitch in the row direction and are arranged in an RGB delta arrangement. One line of data lines is shared by the pixel electrodes corresponding to the same color in the row direction. The data line is formed so as to encircle four sides of each of the pixel electrodes. Accordingly, the parasitic capacitances of the pixel electrodes are made uniform in each pixel.
