  • Patent number: 6334415
Abstract: Since the conventionally the chip seal 14, 16 and the metallic blade spring 15, 17 have been formed separately, assembly efficiency has been poor (for example when the chip seal 14, 16 is inserted, the metallic blade spring 15, 17 detaches and falls out) which lowers productivity. As a result, the cross sectional shape of the chip seal 21 which pushes against the rotor 13 is made in the shape of a letter L.

  • Patent number: 6332439
Abstract: The vane type hydraulic actuator according to the present invention comprises a guide locking mechanism (guide stopper pin) (1) for guiding the rotor (44) to a locking position where the rotor (44) can be locked to the case (43), and a retaining locking mechanism (retaining stopper pin) (4) for retaining the rotor (44) to the case (43), after the rotor (44) is guided to the locking position. The actuator having vanes, wherein the length in the peripheral direction of the tip portion of the vane having the locking mechanism is substantially identical to that of the vane which is located symmetrically thereto. The length in the peripheral direction of the tip portion of the other vanes is shorter than that of the vane having the locking mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20010047781
Abstract: A valve timing adjusting device has a lock mechanism for restricting a rotational motion of an internal rotor 7 relative to an external rotor 5. The lock mechanism has a plunger 45, which is movable along a radial direction of the external rotor 5 and restricts the rotational motion of the internal rotor 7 relative to the external rotor 5 on condition that the prevention of the rotational motion of the internal rotor 7 relative to the external rotor 5 is removable, a receiving hole 7a, which is arranged on an outer circumferential surface of the internal rotor 7 and receives the plunger 45, a spring 21, which presses the plunger 45 inwardly along the radial direction of the external rotor 5 by a prescribed pressure, a holder 46, which determines a position of the spring 21, and a knock pin 47 which prevents the holder 46 from being moved outwardly along the radial direction of the external rotor 5.

  • Publication number: 20010048090
Abstract: A plurality of grooves 32 are arranged on the inner circumferential surface of a first sleeve 19 so as to extend in the axial direction of the first sleeve 19. The plurality of grooves 32 are arranged at equal intervals around a center axis of the first sleeve 19 in the same sectional area of the first sleeve 19. Each groove 32 is formed with a circular cross section, and each groove 32 has a sufficient depth in the inner circumferential surface of the first sleeve 19 to reliably collect foreign matter in the groove 32. Each groove 32 has the same length as that of the first sleeve 19 in the axial direction of the first sleeve 19, and both ends of each groove 32 are opened on both end surfaces of the first sleeve 19.

  • Patent number: 6325032
Abstract: When a rotor and a case are formed from different materials, deformation and early wear due to insufficient strength of an engagement hole of a lock means which locks the relative rotation of the rotor and the case can be prevented. Furthermore it is possible to maintain a clearance between the sliding faces of the rotor and the case in response to temperature variations. A second rotating body 6 is formed from a material with a smaller linear expansion coefficient than a first rotating body 2, and an engagement hole 121 is provided in the second rotating body 6 and which engages and disengages the lock mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6311657
Abstract: The present invention relates to a lock mechanism for a valve timing regulation device which regulates the timing of the opening and closing of engine valves, the lock mechanism locks or releases a first rotating body and a second rotating body in response to the operational condition of an engine. The lock mechanism includes a radial groove 32 provided in either the first rotating body 21 or the second rotating body 24 and extending in a radial direction of the rotating body. A locking member 35 is slidably inserted into the radial groove 32, and the locking member is urged towards a center of the rotating body by an urging means 36. • Patent number: 6290526
Abstract: A lamp socket has a socket body with a plugging section in which a lamp plug is removably plugged. In the plugging section, there are a central terminal and a side terminal. An insulation seal member provides electrical isolation between the central terminal and the side terminal and is prevented from dislodging when the lamp plug is removed from the socket body by forming a structure from at least one of the central terminal and the insulation seal member which are adapted to fit into one another. Thus, the removal of the insulation seal member when the lamp plug is plugged out of the socket body can be prevented by the central terminal of the socket body and/or the insulation seal member itself. Therefore, there is no need to install an additional component such as a stopper. Thus, the number of components and its manufacturing cost can be reduced compared with a conventional lamp socket.

  • Patent number: 6237466
Abstract: A vane type hydraulic actuator, wherein a chip seal 1, as a seal element between the case 43 and the rotor 44, can be pressed to contact tightly with the counter surface, without using a spring 47 as in the prior art, when a working oil is supplied either from the oil pressure chambers for timing retard or for timing advance. Simultaneously, the locking between the rotor 44 and the case 43 can be released. The hydrodynamic resistance at the gap between the tip of the seal element (chip seal) 1 and the counter surface of the seal element is made larger than that at the gap between the flank of the seal element 1 and the flank of the seal groove 2, which accomodates the seal element, so that the working oil of the hydraulic actuator flows between the flanks. The working oil at the bottom of the seal element urges the seal element to contact tightly with the counter surface.

  • Patent number: 6155219
Abstract: The valve timing adjusting apparatus comprises a bias means that generates an urging force between the casing and the rotor, and the thus generated urging force is set to the level equal to or below the average inertia torque of the camshaft within the time period until the spark ignition is generated after one rotation of the crank shaft at the starting time of the combustion engine, so that by the varied torque at the time of starting of the combustion engine and the urging force, the rotor can be rapidly shifted toward the advance side or retard side with a relatively small force, improving thereby the response characteristic of the valve opening/closing system.

  • Patent number: 6024062
Abstract: A hydraulic apparatus for adjusting the timing of opening and closing of an engine valve of a prior art has the drawback that sludge from the oil pressure chamber tends to accumulate on the inner surface of the housing of the actuator, which controls the rotor in a valve timing adjusting system for controlling the valve timing of the engine. This causes troubles in the operation of the rotor. In the present invention, while the fuel delivery to the engine M1 is being cut off, the hydraulic media providing means M10 is controlled by the timing advance control means M13 to rotate further the rotor from the position at the moment that the fuel delivery is cut off, so as to clean the inner side of the housing of the actuator M9, the control of the setting and the execution of the cleaning mode is carried out by a cleaning condition judging means M14. A mode exchange means M15 controls the hydraulic media providing means M10 to exchange its normal mode and the cleaning mode, according to the state of the engine.

  • Patent number: 5916131
Abstract: The air introducing means comprising air pump for introducing air into exhaust pipe and heating device for heating the introduced air are provided. Both an air pump for introducing air into exhaust pipe and a heating device for heating the introduced air are provided. Heating device is connected to the control unit which causes it to stop heating when the temperature of the water for cooling engine exceeds a preset temperature. Idle rotation regulator for keeping the rotational speed of the engine at a level higher than the idling speed is also provided. Further provided is a control unit that actuates the idle rotation regulator when the engine is brought to idling while the heating device performs heating. If the rotational speed of the engine is increased while it is running at idle, more power is generated by dynamo to make up for the power consumption by the heating device.
