  • Patent number: 5603305
Abstract: An exhaust gas recirculation valve comprises a housing which constructs a part of an exhaust gas path for receiving exhaust gas from an exhaust pipe of an internal combustion engine, the housing accommodating a valve mechanism for controlling the amount of flow of the exhaust gas passing therethrough, a fixed cylinder disposed in the housing, a movable cylinder assembly composed of at least one movable cylinder disposed in the fixed cylinder, a piston movably disposed in the movable cylinder assembly for controlling an opening of the valve mechanism, and a pressure applying mechanism for respectively applying pressure to the movable cylinder and the piston so as to move them through respective predetermined strokes.

  • Patent number: 5601112
Abstract: A check valve has a valve element 12 integral with a metallic bushing 11 and made of a substantially annular rubber material. A hole is provided in the center of the valve element, and a shaft 13 passes through the hole. A spring 2 is mounted around the shaft, and a back face of the valve element is supported at one end of the spring through the metallic bushing. A truncated conical stopper 4 includes a recess at an intermediate portion, and is mounted downstream of the valve element to restrict the amount of movement and deformation of the valve element. The stopper is fixed at one end 13b of the shaft. It is thereby possible to provide a reliable check valve in which flow resistance can significantly be reduced, and sufficient safety can be established against counter flow pressure.

  • Patent number: 5425235
Abstract: The air introducing means comprising air pump for introducing air into exhaust pipe and heating device for heating the introduced air are provided. Both an air pump for introducing air into exhaust pipe and a heating device for heating the introduced air are provided. Heating device is connected to the control unit which causes it to stop heating when the temperature of the water for cooling engine exceeds a preset temperature. Idle rotation regulator for keeping the rotational speed of the engine at a level higher than the idling speed is also provided. Further provided is a control unit that actuates the idle rotation regulator when the engine is brought to idling while the heating device performs heating. If the rotational speed of the engine is increased while it is running at idle, more power is generated by dynamo to make up for the power consumption by the heating device.

  • Patent number: 5336068
Abstract: A scroll-type fluid machine is provided in which the oscillating motion at the orbiting movement of a moving scroll is considerably decreased. A projecting portion is formed at the center of a moving scroll and moving scroll shaft bearings are fixed in a shaft hole of the projection portion. The moving scroll is positioned such that its center of gravity is positioned at a portion between the moving scroll shaft bearings. The moving scroll is driven at the center of gravity of the moving scroll to prevent the moving scroll from being oscillated at the orbiting movement. As a result, noise is mitigated and the life of the fluid machines is prolonged since wear caused by the oscillating movement is restricted.

  • Patent number: 4700805
Abstract: A muffler for exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine. The muffler is a hybrid consisting of gas expansion chambers defined by partitions in a muffler casing, and a sound-absorbing body. The sound-absorbing body includes a perforated pipe surrounded by a porous sound-absorbing material with a thin metal film sandwiched therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4523662
Abstract: A muffler of the absorption type for the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine including a cylindrical porous sound-absorbing body 1, and a film 5 of a metal or other material formed cylindrically on the inner surface of the porous body 1. The film prevents clogging of the pores in the porous body and enables the absorption of the sound in a wide frequency range.
