  • Patent number: 5461571
Abstract: A complementary threat display where threat data provided by a pulsed radar jammer and a continuous wave radar jammer are correlated with the threat data provided by a radar warning receiver. The correlation identifies common threats seen by both sensors and the current jamming status of some threats. Threats that are unique to the pulsed radar jammer are displayed as complementary threats.

  • Patent number: 5457460
Abstract: Aircraft survivability embedded data recorder for threat data. The embedded threat data recorder stores active threat data generated by aircraft survivability equipment sensors. Threat data from a radar warning receiver, a pulsed radar jammer, continuous wave radar jammer or missile approach detectors are recorded by the embedded threat data recorder. The threat data for each sensor is correlated between each sensor to ensure that redundant threats are eliminated. The threat data recorder represents the recorded threats on a display for mission briefing, evaluating countermeasure effectiveness, or identifying new threats. The embedded threat data recorder also provides downloading of threat data into a threat data transfer cartridge for use in off-line threat analysis. Data can be provided to other platforms, satellites and ground base stations. Data can be recorded on a multifunction display and data compression techniques may be used. The tape may also be played back in the aircraft.

  • Patent number: 5410313
Abstract: A functional radar warning receiver backup generator. A functional radar warning receiver backup generator provides threat information in the total absence or partial absence of the radar warning receiver information. Radar warning receiver information such as radar detection data and radar identification data is also generated by other systems such as the Pulsed Radar Jammer and the Continuous Wave Radar Jammer. An on-board computer processes and presents the back-up information to the pilot as if the Radar Warning Receiver was still operational. Voice and video functions of the Radar Warning Receiver are also displayed and presented to the pilot. Partial back-up and full back-up of the Radar Warning Receiver are provided. A temporal data correlation algorithm, a radar emitter ID conversion algorithm, cross sensor correlation algorithm and prioritization algorithm provide the back-up data.

  • Patent number: 5406286
Abstract: A data correlated real time passive threat positioning system uses parallel estimated navigation filters. A threat data correlation process accepts radar warning receiver track file data and generates correlated threat data. A threat data management system and a raw threat positioning system accepts aircraft heading and angle of arrival of the threat to generate a threat status indicator and a threat position measurement. Navigation filtering management apparatus accepts the threat status indicators and provide position filter controls. Parallel estimation navigation filters use the position filter control and the threat of position measurements to generate estimated threat positions for a number of threats. The estimated threat positions are updated and threat situation awareness is presented to the pilot in real-time. Elevation extraction apparatus uses a terrain data base and the threat estimated position to predict the elevation of the threat.

  • Patent number: 5287110
Abstract: A complementary threat sensor data fusion capability for an aircraft survivability equipment system. A set of aircraft survivability sensors provides a threat sensor data fusion control process with status data. The control process controls whether or not a threat ambiguity detector receives radar warning receiver data or a radar emitter ID conversion apparatus receives pulsed radar jammer data or continuous wave radar jammer data. The threat sensor data fusion control process also determines whether missile approach detector data is sent to a countermeasures analyzing apparatus. The threat ambiguity detector provides ambiguity data to a threat ambiguity resolving apparatus. The radar emitter ID conversion apparatus provides converted jammer data to a functional sensor back-up apparatus. The radar emitter ID conversion process receives a common radar emitter ID data base. The threat sensor data fusion process controller also provides fusion process control to the complementary threat data apparatus.
