  • Publication number: 20160117097
Abstract: A touch-type keyboard having shifted functions accessed by a concurrent combination of multiple home row keys. Cursor control keys embedded in the home row of a touch-type keyboard. Cursor key functions are mapped to a location on a home row and an immediately adjacent location. Access to the cursor control functions is provided by concurrently actuating at least one other home row key. One embodiment includes key configurations to reduce hand motion, and labeling configurations to reduce visual clutter. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 9235270
Abstract: A touch type keyboard with an array of mechanical keys. Each key has a plurality of capacitive sensors to detect a finger's location on the surface of the key. The array provides single strike access to an entire alphabet, while reducing hand motion. The invention overcomes previous conflicts, to combine wide finger-spacing with closer reach to each character. One embodiment also includes cursor control functions embedded within the home row, and layered labeling to improve visual simplicity.

  • Publication number: 20150309588
Abstract: An ultra compact mobile keyboard. The keyboard has a plurality of mechanical keys suitable for touch typing. Each such key has a travel distance sufficient to provide a touch type feel and a rigid cap for crisp actuation by a user. The keyboard has a deployed configuration for touch-typing use and a collapsed configuration for transport and storage. In the collapsed configuration, the keyboard fits within bounding volume of less than 180 cubic centimeters.

  • Publication number: 20150277578
Abstract: A keyboard having fewer than twelve keys that collectively provide single stroke access to every letter of an alphabet. At least some of the keys provide access to more than one letter with the different letters being accessible at different physical locations on the key. The keyboard provides access to additional function not available through any individual key when two or more keys are concurrently pressed. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 8896539
Abstract: A touch-type keyboard with multiple functions associated with each key which functions are uniquely selected based on finger position. Each of a plurality of mechanical keys are associated with at least three functions. Each key has a surface area for actuation by a user's finger. The surface area is mapped to zones associated with each function. Function actuation is determined by detection of the finger position when the key is actuated. In the event of a finger overlapping multiple zones during actuation, unique function selection is determined at least in part from the pattern of finger overlap with the plural zones.

  • Publication number: 20140204032
Abstract: A collapsible compact touch-type keyboard for mobile devices. The keyboard includes a plurality of separate parts that together form a keyboard with keys large enough to allow efficient touch-typing. The plurality of parts includes at least a first and a second base each retaining a plurality of keys. A wireless transmitter exists within at least one of the parts to send keyboard events to a computer.
