  • Patent number: 7538210
Abstract: Disclosed herein are a novel sucrose-inducible promoter sequence and a 5? untranslated region which are derived from sweetpotato ADP-glucose pyrophosphorlyase gene (ibAGP1) (SEQ ID NO: 1). Also disclosed are expression vectors using the same sequences and a transgenic plant using the same vectors. The promoter and 5? untranslated region according to the present invention can confer a high level of sucrose-inducible expression in plants, particularly in plant storage roots which contain sucrose in relatively large quantities to accumulate starch in large quantities in plants. Therefore the present invention may be useful for the generation of transgenic plants to produce useful proteins in large quantities in plant storage roots.

  • Publication number: 20070277058
Abstract: The notion of controlling, using and monitoring remote resources in a distributed data processing system through the use of proxy resource managers and agents is extended to provide failover capability so that resource coverage is preserved and maintained even in the event of either temporary or longer duration node failure. Mechanisms are provided for consistent determination of resource status. Mechanisms are also provided which facilitate the joining of nodes to a group of nodes while still preserving remote resource operations. Additional mechanisms are also provided for the return of remote resource management to the control of a previously failed, but now recovered node, even if the failure had resulted in a node reset.

  • Patent number: 7273967
Abstract: The present invention relates to a promoter directing high levels of expression of a gene in plant storage roots, derived from the sweet potato MADS-box gene, a vector directing high levels of expression of a gene in plant storage roots comprising the same and a transient assay method expressing a foreign gene transiently in plant storage roots using the same vector. The promoter according to the present invention can induce high levels of expression particularly in plant storage roots. Therefore the present invention is very useful for the development of transgenic plants to produce valuable materials in large quantities in plant storage roots.

  • Publication number: 20070174264
Abstract: A three-dimensional data structure for storing data is defined and maintained. The three-dimensional data structure includes at least one column of data having a depth greater than zero indicating that multiple data values are provided for multiple domains represented by the structure. The data structure also includes zero or more columns of data having a depth of zero indicating that the data value of a zero depth column is invariable for a plurality of domains represented by the structure. The structure is maintained by employing various operations including, create, write and read operations.

  • Publication number: 20060136452
Abstract: A method for generating a database schema in order to generate an integrated view capable of obtaining desired data from data resources dispersed and stored in different formats in different locations, and an data integrating system are provided. The method includes rules for parsing the structure and contents of an database described in a specification language, generating a schema semantically corresponding to the database, and defining data items required for generating an integrated view. Also, in order to generate a global schema expressing an integrated view, part of XQuery grammar is introduced for local schemas expressing a single database, and a definition of standard expression for expressing a data view is included. Accordingly, an data integrating system can generate an integrated view for a variety of heterogeneous databases dispersed on a network by using a specification language, and post a query in real time.

  • Publication number: 20050262143
Abstract: The acquisition of a lock among nodes of a divided cluster is disclosed. A method is performable by each of at least one node of the cluster. A node waits for a delay corresponding to its identifier. The node asserts intent to acquire the lock by writing its identifier to X and Y variables where another node has failed to acquire the lock. The node waits for another node to acquire the lock where the other node has written to X, and proceeds where Y remains equal to its own identifier. The node waits for another node to acquire the lock where the other node has written to a Z variable, and writes its own identifier to Z and proceeds where the other node has failed. The node writes a value to Y indicating that it is acquiring the lock, and maintains acquisition by periodically writing to Z.

  • Publication number: 20050160143
Abstract: A distributed system has a multiplicity of nodes. A group of the nodes subscribe to a group services process. The group is subject to dissolving. A list of persistent subscribers to the group is maintained. Subscriptions to members and states of the group that are persistent subscribers do not terminate in response to the group being dissolved. The persistent subscribers automatically receive a notice in response to the group being reestablished and do not need to re-subscribe to the group.
