  • Patent number: 10383574
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for monitoring a subject, and particularly, for inferring an underlying brain state present in absence of current conditions. In some aspects, a method for monitoring the subject is provided including steps of receiving physiological feedback from at least one sensor configured to acquire physiological information from locations associated with a subject's brain, assembling a set of time-series data using the received physiological feedback, and identifying portions of the set of time-series data that indicate a burst suppression state. The method also includes identifying a burst characteristic profile associated with a burst pattern determined from the identified portions, and comparing the burst characteristic against a reference set of burst profiles.

  • Patent number: 10299720
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to compositions comprising anesthesia-reversing agents which facilitate or increase the time of awakening or reverse the effects of general anesthesia-induced unconsciousness. In some embodiments, the anesthesia reversing agent can be selected from any or a combination of methylphenidate (MPH), amphetamine, modafinil, amantadine, caffeine, or analogs or derivatives thereof. In some embodiments, compositions comprising at least one or more anesthesia-reversing agents can be used to facilitate awakening from anesthesia without or decreasing occurrence of delirium, and can be used in methods to treat or prevent the symptoms associated with emergence delirium, as well as treat a subject oversedated with general an esthesia. The invention also relates to methods for administering these compositions comprising anesthesia-reversing agents to subjects and for use.

  • Publication number: 20190117085
Abstract: A method and system for determining the state of a patients brain under anesthesia. The present invention recognizes that anesthesia compounds induce different signatures in physiological characteristics of the patient under anesthesia and aids interpretation of physiological characteristics and signatures therein based on a selected anesthesia compound. The present invention aids the monitoring and/or interpreting of the physiological characteristics to a state of the patient's brain.

  • Patent number: 10245984
Abstract: A seat system for a vehicle includes a seat having a seat bottom on which a person can sit. An intermediate support structure is secured to the seat and the vehicle which allows the seat to rotate relative to the vehicle. An actuator can interact with the seat to cause the seat to rotate relative to the vehicle. One or more sensors can each measure an aspect of motion. A processor can (i) receive input from each of the one or more sensors, (ii) determine from this input a measure of rotation of the vehicle away from a nominal, level horizontal orientation, and (iii) utilize the input to determine a desired rotation of the seat. An angle that the seat has been rotated away from a nominal, level orientation is more than insubstantially larger than an angle that the vehicle has rotated away from a nominal, level horizontal orientation.

  • Publication number: 20190010745
Abstract: A self-locking guillotine door assembly and method for an animal enclosure is disclosed. The assembly includes a door, a locking mechanism attached to the door, and a cable attached to the locking mechanism. Pulling the cable releases the locking mechanism and lifts the locking mechanism and door. Pushing up on the bottom of the door locks the locking mechanism and resists lifting the door. The locking mechanism can include a post, a vertical slide with a slot, connector bars and cams such that when the cable is pulled, the cable lifts the vertical slide to lift proximal ends of the connector bars, which pivots the cams to release the locking mechanism. When the enclosure door is pushed up from the bottom, the locking mechanism pivots the cams towards the top of the enclosure door to lock the locking mechanism and resist lifting of the enclosure door.

An intermediate support structure is secured to the seat and the vehicle which allows the seat to rotate relative to the vehicle. An actuator can interact with the seat to cause the seat to rotate relative to the vehicle. The combined motion of the vehicle relative to the earth and the seat relative to the vehicle results in motion of the seat moving about a virtual pivot point. A user control is provided for adjustment of the location of the virtual pivot point.
