  • Publication number: 20150172066
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus may be an eMBMS middleware. The apparatus receives a request to activate reception of an eMBMS service. The apparatus receives a request for a segment associated with the eMBMS service. The apparatus determines whether the segment of the eMBMS service is available at the eMBMS middleware. The apparatus fetches the segment from the unicast server if the segment is not available at the eMBMS middleware.

  • Publication number: 20150124692
Abstract: Diversity enhancement for multiple carrier systems is disclosed which includes generation of a multiplexed multicarrier radio frequency (RF) signal having N carriers organized to be accessed at a rate of one carrier access per multicast channel (MCH) scheduling period (MSP) per carrier of the N carriers, thereby requiring N accesses per MSP duration across the N carriers. The method may also include the base station transmitting the RF signal to a user equipment (UE). In other aspects, the diversity enhancements include the UE receiving a multiplexed multicarrier RF signal having N carriers. The UE may access the N carriers by performing one carrier access per MSP per carrier of the N carriers, thereby performing N accesses per MSP duration across the N carriers.

  • Patent number: 9025462
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus receives a first service and determines a potential upload time period including an aggregation time period. The potential upload time period is for uploading a reception report for the first service. The apparatus receives a second service before expiration of the aggregation time period. The apparatus determines whether to generate first reporting information for the received first service and second reporting information for the received second service. The apparatus aggregates the first reporting information and the second reporting information based upon the determination to generate both the first reporting information and the second reporting information.

  • Patent number: 9001737
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus receives a user service description (USD) message. When a frequency indicated in the USD message is not a current frequency, the apparatus determines that a system information message is received, determines that the frequency indicated in the USD message is included in the system information message, determines that the frequency is a neighboring cell frequency, sets a priority of the frequency to a highest priority, and measures a signal strength of the frequency when the frequency is included in the system information message, performs a cell reselection determination procedure based on the signal strength of the frequency, performs cell reselection to the neighboring cell based on a result of the cell reselection determination procedure, and acquires the multicast service in the neighboring cell on the frequency.

  • Publication number: 20140372570
Abstract: Embodiment systems, methods, and devices enable data streams of a broadcast service to be carried in multiple communication sessions in any transport protocol providing file transport information and the transmission of objects, an example of which is File Delivery Over Unidirectional Transport (“FLUTE”). A session description may include a category attribute indicating the type of data carried in such a protocol session. A schedule fragment may include references to a session description for each such protocol session associated with a service. A common listing of configuration parameters may be generated for all such protocol sessions associated with a service. A different listing of configuration parameters may be generated for each such protocol session associated with a service. • Publication number: 20140199044
Abstract: A device for processing media data includes one or more processors configured to receive a session description protocol (SDP) message including an attribute that defines a time-shifted buffer (TSB) depth, determine an amount of memory for the TSB based on a value of the attribute, allocate the determined amount of memory to the TSB, and store at least a portion of media data associated with the SDP message in the TSB. The value for the attribute may signal the depth of the TSB in terms of playback time in seconds. The attribute may leverage the extensibility of SDP messages through, for instance, “a=” lines. For instance, the TSB depth attribute may correspond to an “a=tsb-length:” attribute.

  • Publication number: 20140201323
Abstract: A proxy unit is configured to obtain mapping information that maps an identifier for media data to a resource location based on a service for retrieving the media data, wherein the service defines at least one of a plurality of types of transports for transporting the media data, receive a request for the media data from an application service client, determine whether the service is available, and, when the service is available, cause the application service client to receive the media data from a unit that receives the media data using the service from the resource location, based on the mapping information. In this manner, the application service client may receive media data from the unit (e.g., a middleware unit), which then receives the media data using a service that defines transport according to, e.g., broadcast or multicast transport, or another fashion (e.g., unicast) if the defined transport is unavailable.

  • Publication number: 20140169255
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus configures a set of MBSFN subframes to include one or more MBSFN subframes for MBSFN signal quality measurements. The one or more MBSFN subframes for MBSFN signal quality measurements correspond to each of one or more MBSFN areas or frequencies for broadcasting eMBMS services. The apparatus sends one or more measurement parameters to a UE. The measurement parameters identify the one or more MBSFN subframes for MBSFN signal quality measurements, and a MBSFN area ID corresponding to each of the one or more MBSFN areas or frequencies. The measurement parameters may further identify a MCS level corresponding to each of the one or more MBSFN areas or frequencies.

  • Publication number: 20140134970
Abstract: An emergency notification service is described that is delivered using an evolved multimedia broadcast-multicast service (eMBMS). An emergency notification is sent out to user equipment (UE) in affected areas. In response to receiving the emergency notification, the UE searches the appropriate emergency multicast service acquisition information for multiple potential types of available emergency content that is provided by the eMBMS system in the network and tunes to the eMBMS to receive the emergency content. In selected aspects, the transmitted information, including the notifications and content may be scrambled using the same cell ID for each of the cells transmitting the same content. This improves the quality of the transmitted signals allowing for more reliable receipt and decoding by the receiving UEs.

  • Publication number: 20140036755
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication enable user equipment operating in a current cell that provides a multimedia broadcast/multicast service to distinguish between neighboring cells that have different operational characteristics. The presence of a neighboring cell is identified while the user equipment is operating in a first cell and it is determined whether the neighboring cell provides services different from the services provided in the current cell, based on information maintained by the user equipment. The user equipment may move to the neighboring cell to obtain better or different service.

  • Publication number: 20140016491
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for reporting signal quality in overlapping Multimedia Broadcast Single Frequency Networks (MBSFN) areas. A UE may determine a signal quality estimate for each of two or more overlapping MBSFN areas based on Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) information and Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS) information for the MBSFN area. The UE may then determine a combined signal quality based on the signal quality estimates of the MBSFN areas.
