  • Patent number: 4100215
Abstract: Process for the selective production of paraxylene by methylaton of toluene in the presence of a catalyst comprising a crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite characterized by (1) a silica to alumina ratio of at least about 12, (2) a constraint index within the approximate range of 1 to 12 and (3) a crystal size greater than 1 micron.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 27, 1976
Date of Patent: July 11, 1978
    Assignee: Mobil Oil Corporation
    Inventor: Nai Y. Chen
  • Patent number: 4049578
Abstract: A metallic reforming catalyst, consisting of platinum and iridium or platinum, iridium and copper on a porous carrier provides excellent conversion of naphtha to C.sub.5.sup.+ product. A method of incorporating the metals or metal compounds on the carrier and preparing the finished catalyst using dimethyl sulfoxide is a novel procedure and provides unexpected catalytic properties. Novel reforming operations using these catalysts under moderate or severe conditions do not drastically alter the product yield.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 11, 1976
Date of Patent: September 20, 1977
    Assignee: Mobil Oil Corporation
Inventors: William J. Reagan, Nai Y. Chen
  • Patent number: 3981825
Abstract: A metallic reforming catalyst, preferably consisting of platinum and iridium or compounds thereof, with or without a third metal component of either Groups IB, IIB, IIIA, IVA, VB, VIB or VIIB on a porous carrier provides excellent conversion of naphtha to C.sub.5 .sup.+ product.
