  • Patent number: 9442740
Abstract: A host device requests a recording device to send first information including model information or sequel information expressed as a value in a first range. The host device determines if the model information or the sequel information is contained in the first information sent from the recording device, and acquires the model information from the first information if the model information is contained in the first information. If the sequel information is contained in the first information, the host device requests transmission of second information containing model information expressed as a value in the second range, and acquires model information from the second information. Based on the acquired recording device model information, the host device writes data stored in the host device to the recording device.

  • Patent number: 9367779
Abstract: A processing device is provided. A first storage unit stores a correspondence table which is indicative of a correspondence relationship between attributes of data and encryption levels for encrypting data. An obtaining unit obtains data. A first determination unit determines an encryption level according to an attribute of the data obtained by the obtaining unit, using the correspondence table stored in the first storage unit. An encryption unit encrypts the data obtained by the obtaining unit in the encryption level determined by the first determination unit. A second storage unit stores the data encrypted by the encryption unit.

  • Publication number: 20150102096
Abstract: Without needing reserve printers of plural different types in preparation for an equipment failure, printing as desired can be quickly resumed by simply connecting a replacement printer. The printer 14 has two connection terminals enabling connecting to an external host computer 11 using a daisy chain connection, determines if an external device such as a host computer 11 or another printer 17 is connected to the connection terminals, and based on the result of said determination selects and prints from among specific plural types of print data output from the host computer through the daisy chain connection the print data of the type previously correlated to the connection status of the connection terminal.

  • Patent number: 8887992
Abstract: When a customer places a special order that changes the content of a product or processing thereof, a receipt printing processing method and system generates special order (second) data and prints the same using a label (second) printer in connection with printing the sales receipt (printing first data on first paper) using a receipt (first) printer in communication with the label printer. A stored key code is used to indentify non-standard order (predetermined) information in the receipt printer before printing the receipt data, and such information is determined to be contained in the receipt data, if a text string matching the key code is found in the receipt data. In that case, the special order data is generated and printed.

  • Patent number: 8459542
Abstract: When a customer places a special order that changes the content of a product or processing thereof (non-standard order information), a receipt printing processing method and system also produces a special order seal in connection with printing the sales receipt. The receipt printing processing system has a receipt printer and a label printer that is in communication with the receipt printer. When the system receives transaction processing data generated by a POS register used to take orders, a control unit determines if non-standard order information is contained in the transaction processing data. If so, the control unit controls the generation of seal printing data for printing a special order seal, along with controlling the processing of receipt data and the printing of the receipt.

The receipt printing processing system has a receipt printer and a label printer that is in communication with the receipt printer. When the receipt printer receives transaction processing data generated by a POS register used to take orders, the receipt printer prints a receipt, determines if special order information is contained in the transaction processing data, and generates seal printing data for printing a special order seal, if the special order information is contained in the transaction processing data. The receipt printer also sends the seal printing data to the label printer for printing a special order seal. Because the receipt printer generates the seal printing data, special order seals can be printed without modifying the application program run by the POS register.

  • Patent number: 7190821
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for processing checks and other negotiable instruments efficiently captures MICR data required for electronic payment and an image of the check or negotiable instrument enabling the amount, payee, and other information printed or written on the check face to be clearly read. The image reading unit 11 of the check processing apparatus 110 scans and outputs a gray scale image of the check. A threshold value determination unit 12 sets a threshold value for digitizing the image data based on the density level frequency distribution of primary gray scale image data obtained by the image data reading unit scanning a first scanning area T. This first scanning area contains part of a printed text area 127 where text is printed on the negotiable instrument and part of the background 49 of the negotiable instrument.

  • Patent number: 6986464
Abstract: A character reading system efficiently and quickly applies an optical verification process to detect magnetic ink character misreads. In the system, a magnetic ink character reading device reads magnetic ink characters on a processed medium and generates magnetic ink character data, an image reading device scans an image of the processed medium and generates image data, and a position calculator calculates positions of magnetic ink characters on the processed medium and generates magnetic ink character position information. A communication controller sends the magnetic ink character data, image data, and magnetic ink character position information to a host device which includes an optical recognition device that optically recognizes select magnetic ink characters from the image data based on the character position information. By selectively applying optical verification (e.g.

  • Patent number: 6975423
Abstract: A printing apparatus includes a data receiver that receives command data from a host device and a memory that stores the command data received by the data receiver. A printer controller reads out the command data stored in the memory in a first-in-first-out order and controls the printing apparatus in accordance with the command data. A command detector is provided to detect predetermined command data within the command data received by the data receiver without storing the command data in the memory or while or before command data is stored in the memory. An off-line recovery controller enables the printing apparatus to recover from an off-line state in accordance with the predetermined command data detected by the command detector.

  • Patent number: 6906812
Abstract: A bar code or similar symbol can be printed accurately within a specified printing area by a printer for printing such symbols. The printer has a symbol image generator for converting display data to a symbol and has hardware or software for reporting the size of the converted symbol to a host device. The host sends specific commands and text data for representation in the printed symbol to the printer for printing. As a result, the host can confirm whether printing within the specific area is possible.

  • Patent number: 6902105
Abstract: The size of image data for a check or other negotiable instrument used for electronically clearing payments made by such negotiable instruments is reduced. A scanning process setup command received from a host system by a communication unit is interpreted by the command interpreting unit and settings for a specified image reading area and/or cropping areas to are stored in control data storage unit. The image reading unit is controlled and driven by the scanning control unit, and an image of the negotiable instrument is read by scanning the specified image reading area. An image cropping unit extracts only the image data in the specified cropping areas.
