  • Patent number: 6912516
Abstract: A method and a machine for generating a dictionary of address phrase expressions. One embodiment of the invention includes an apparatus for generating a dictionary of target phrases that includes an input interface for receiving as its input a first address phrase included in a list of address phrase expressions, a memory for storing a dictionary of address phrase variants, including rules for generating variants of address phrase expressions, and a processing device for generating variants of address phrases which generates a second address phrase which is different in expression from the first address phrase to output the second address phrase to a storage device holding the dictionary of target phrases, based on the input first address phrase, and the knowledge of rules about variants included in the dictionary of address phrase variants.

  • Publication number: 20050120295
Abstract: A digital pen-based application form filling system with a modification prevention function, which eliminates a possibility that digital information initially written in digital paper using a digital pen may be modified deliberately or accidentally. The system prints a new fine pattern over areas in already written digital paper whose contents one wishes to protect against being modified. This printing adds a fine pattern to an original dot pattern already present on the digital paper to make it theoretically impossible to enter information into these areas using the digital pen.

  • Publication number: 20050093832
Abstract: A mail system for executing a mail service has a user management part for managing the information that the user previously registered, and a unit for utilizing the registered information as the destination of mails, so that the addresses of recipients can be efficiently managed. The sender acquires an address card that has printed with a pattern linking with the information of recipients. This address card is used when the sender writes a mail, and thus it serves to reduce the load on the sending operation. If a pattern linking with usage history information is printed on the mail, it also reduces the burden on the reply operation in which the recipient sends a reply back to the sender. The use of this usage history information for grasping the usage serves to efficiently adjust and calculate the cost for the service.

  • Publication number: 20040078755
Abstract: A system and method are provided for a format processor that precisely matches a format of a semi-fixed form in the same form type is disclosed. In one example, the form processing system comprises a storage device configured to store format information of a plurality of fields of a form; an image input device configured to acquire an image of a plurality of segments of the form; a reading device configured to read the format information of the plurality of fields of the form from the storage device; a matching device configured to match format information of the plurality of segments with corresponding format information of the plurality of fields to obtain matching results; and a combining device configure to combine the format information of the plurality of segments with corresponding format information of the plurality of fields based upon the matching results, wherein the combining device is further configured to obtain a determined format of the image.

  • Publication number: 20020161710
Abstract: In printing a document, such items of document processing information as the document form, the processing method, and the format are embedded in the document to be extracted and used in document processing. In document preprinting, document processing information regarding the document form is embedded onto the document. In printing the document contents, the document processing information embedded in the document is extracted such that the contents are printed according to the document processing information. This allows a document processing system to use accurate document processing information even if the document forms to be handled vary widely. It also keeps the accuracy of document processing when the same document form is printed by another printing office at a different time.

  • Publication number: 20020065847
Abstract: When a form processing terminal fails to identify a form, image information of the identification-failed form is transmitted to a work center. A manager of form identification dictionary of the work center analyzes the cause(s) of the identification failure, and updates the form identification dictionary while allowing the form processing system to operate. Update information is transmitted to the form processing terminal. The form processing terminal can also transmit to the work center information, which characterizes the form type, together with the image of the identification-failed form. The use of the updated information of the form by the form processing terminal is recorded in a user action log for fee charging purpose.
