  • Publication number: 20020058714
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to modify low-substituted hydroxypropyl cellulose added as a binder and disintegrator in the formation of tablets, so as to serve as a base material for dry direct tableting having high binding power and good flowability. This object is accomplished by providing a base material for dry direct tableting which is obtained by impregnating low-substituted hydroxypropyl cellulose with a sugar or a sugar alcohol and then drying it.

  • Publication number: 20010009961
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a process for the production of low-substituted hydroxypropyl cellulose wherein, in the formation of low-substituted hydroxypropyl cellulose particles, a granular material obtained by granulating the reaction product is neutralized with an acid to form neutralization-precipitated particles of low-substituted hydroxypropyl cellulose which can reduce the treating time as compared with conventional processes and, moreover, permit its ash content to be easily decreased in a subsequent washing step. Specifically, the reaction product of an alkali cellulose with a hydroxypropylating agent is granulated, and the resulting granular material is neutralized with an acid.

  • Patent number: 5789014
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a solid preparation coated with a non-solvent coating which is prepared by feeding a polymeric powder directly as coating agent while continuously spraying a solid medicine with an atomized mixture of a liquid substance, which has a contact angle against the polymer coating agent of 10 degrees or less, and a plasticizer. A method of manufacturing a dry-coated solid preparation in which a solid preparation, coated with a non-solvent coating, is treated by adding or spraying an atomized water or an aqueous solution of a water soluble substance in the amount of 1-10 wt % of the solid preparation to wet said "coating layer" followed by drying.

  • Patent number: 5750148
Abstract: A cellulosic enteric base is dissolved in an organic solvent capable of being admixed with water in any rate or a mixed solvent of the organic solvent and water to give a polymer solution, followed by mixing the polymer solution with water, then removing the organic solvent to give a concentrate; adding an anionic surfactant to the concentrate and then drying to give polymer powder. The polymer powder is introduced into water to give an emulsion containing polymer particles having an average particle size of not more than 1 .mu.m and the emulsion is dispersed in water containing a plasticizer to give a coating liquid. A drug is coated with the coating liquid to give a solid enteric pharmaceutical preparation.

  • Patent number: 5560930
Abstract: A method permits the easy preparation of an aqueous emulsion for coating solid pharmaceutical preparations through emulsification in water without addition of additives such as emulsifying agents, polymerization initiators, chain transfer agents, salts and plasticizers. A cellulosic polymer is dissolved in an organic solvent miscible in water in any rate or a mixed solvent comprising the organic solvent and water to give a polymer solution. The polymer solution is mixed with water to disperse the solution in water and thereafter the organic solvent is removed to form an aqueous emulsion for coating solid pharmaceutical preparations. If ethyl cellulose is used as a coating base, ethyl cellulose is first dissolved in a non-hydrophilic solvent to give a non-hydrophilic solution thereof.

  • Patent number: 5512092
Abstract: A method for preparing an aqueous emulsion for coating solid pharmaceutical preparations comprises the steps of dissolving a cellulosic polymer in a mixed solvent of water and an organic solvent capable of being admixed with water in any rate to give a polymer solution, self-emulsifying the polymer solution by mixing with water and then concentrating the resulting emulsified stock solution. The concentration is carried out by removing a part of the liquid components while passing it through a membrane for ultrafiltration till the polymer concentration of the resulting emulsion reaches a level of not less than 7% by weight.
