  • Publication number: 20060060162
Abstract: The start control procedure of the invention lags an open-close timing VVT of an intake valve, restricts a throttle opening TH of a throttle valve, and starts cranking an engine with a lower torque Tlow. When a pressure Pf of a fuel supplied to in-cylinder fuel injection valves reaches or exceeds a preset reference value, which is greater than a sum of an in-cylinder compression pressure Pin and a closed valve position-retaining pressure Pcv of the in-cylinder fuel injection valves, the start control procedure cranks the engine with a standard cranking torque Tset. The start control procedure then starts advance of the open-close timing VVT of the intake valve, cancels the restriction of the throttle opening TH, and starts fuel injection from the in-cylinder fuel injection valves.

  • Publication number: 20060012592
Abstract: A driver section 2 and a display control section B are loaded in a display module A, and an EL display 1 is driven to emit light by an image signal provided from the display control section B. An image generation section 5 in the display control section B generates the image signal for scrolling and displaying a still image showing a time in a wait state in which operations such as key input and the like are not performed for a predetermined time period. In this case, during a period from an end of scroll display of one still image to the start of the scroll display of the next still image, a non-display period in which the still image is not displayed on the display panel is set. During this non-display period, supply of a clock signal from a clock signal generation section 3 which particularly drives the driver section 2 is stopped, and power consumed during this period is reduced.

  • Publication number: 20060000452
Abstract: A low-pressure delivery pipe provided with intake manifold injectors, a fuel pressure regulator, a high-pressure fuel pump, a high-pressure delivery pipe provided with in-cylinder injectors, and an electromagnetic relief valve are connected in series at the downstream of a low-pressure fuel pump that discharges a fuel within a fuel tank at a prescribed pressure. Since the low-pressure delivery pipe is arranged downstream of the low-pressure fuel pump, the fuel pressure within the low-pressure delivery pipe is lowered upon stop of vehicle operation, in response to stop of the low-pressure fuel pump. The fuel pressure within the high-pressure delivery pipe is also lowered in response to stop of the low-pressure fuel pump, by opening the electromagnetic relief valve upon stop of vehicle operation. Thus, oil tightness of the injectors during the stop of vehicle operation is ensured.

  • Publication number: 20050235969
Abstract: When fuel vapor flows to an intake passage from a canister, the amount of fuel injected to an internal combustion engine is corrected to suppress fluctuation of the air-fuel ratio in the engine due to the fuel vapor. An EGR mechanism variably sets the EGR rate. When the pressure in a fuel tank is greater than or equal to a predetermined value, a tank sealing system releases gas containing fuel vapor from the fuel tank to the canister on condition that fuel vapor is flowing to the intake passage from the canister. A controller controls the EGR mechanism to reduce the EGR rate when gas is released from the fuel tank to the canister. Therefore, combustion is stabilized even if EGR is executed when gas in the fuel tank is released.

  • Publication number: 20050155587
Abstract: Both evaporated fuel purge and EGR are performed by supplying both an evaporated fuel and an exhaust gas at a position downstream from a throttle valve, of an intake pipe. A controller for controlling a purge flow rate and an EGR flow rate controls an opening degree of a purge control valve and an opening degree of the throttle valve, for example, as an operational state of an engine to compensate for a decrease in the purge flow rate caused by an increase in the EGR flow rate.

  • Patent number: 6892541
Abstract: A vehicle control device is installed in a hybrid vehicle which can run by a driving force of at least one of an engine and a motor, and charges a battery by driving the engine when an amount of electric power stored in a battery which supplies the electric power to a motor becomes equal to or smaller than a predetermined lower limit. The vehicle control device preheats the engine, a catalyst and the like when an amount of the electric power stored in the battery becomes equal to a value which is set as an amount of stored electric power that is larger than the lower limit. Thus, since the engine and the like have already been warmed when the engine is started, deterioration of emission can be prevented, and the vehicle can run properly.

  • Patent number: 6867509
Abstract: The priority sequence in a control of adjusting the drive power with respect to a vehicle drive power request is set in the sequence of: (1) an engine output increase, (2) a motor output increase, and (3) a gear speed change in a gear ratio increasing direction. More specifically, a gear speed of a least gear ratio is selected within such a range that an engine revolution speed higher than or equal to a predetermined lower limit revolution speed is attainable. A requested drive power is achieved singly by an engine output with the gear speed selected. When the requested drive power is not achievable singly by the engine output, the requested drive power is achieved by the engine output and a motor output. When the requested drive power is not achievable by the engine output and the motor output, the gear speed is changed in a gear ratio increasing direction.

  • Patent number: 6829887
Abstract: Method and apparatus for controlling a vehicle so as to purify an exhaust emission from an internal combustion engine with an exhaust-emission purifying catalyst disposed in an exhaust system of the engine, and such that the engine is brought into a temporary engine-stop state while a predetermined vehicle condition is satisfied, wherein the engine is operated for heating the catalyst, when a temperature of the catalyst has been lowered below a predetermined lower limit threshold, even while the predetermined vehicle condition is still satisfied. The catalyst maintains an exhaust-emission purifying ability at a temperature above the lower limit threshold. When the catalyst temperature has been raised to a predetermined upper limit threshold, as a result of the engine operation, the engine is restored to the temporary engine-stop state if the predetermined condition is still satisfied.
