  • Patent number: 5772407
Abstract: A reciprocating piston type compressor for compressing refrigerant gas includes a plurality of pistons slidably provided within cylinder bores for reciprocation. A pair of housings are mounted to the either ends of the cylinder block with valve plates therebetween. The housings include at least a refrigerant gas suction chamber which is fluidly connected to the cylinder bores. An oil sump is provided for containing lubricating oil. An oil pump is provided for distributing the lubricating oil to the compressor elements. The oil pump includes oil suction which is fluidly connected to the oil sump through a oil suction passage. The pressure in the refrigerant gas suction chamber is introduced into the oil suction chamber to direct the lubricating oil into the oil suction chamber from the oil sump during the initial stage of the starting of the compressor.

  • Patent number: 5528976
Abstract: A compressor has a swash plate supported on a drive shaft for an integral rotation. The swash plate is coupled to a plurality of pistons reciprocally moveable in a cylinder block to compress gas therein. Reaction force of the compressed gas applied to the piston and causing axial load acting on the swash plate and the drive shaft is buffered by buffer structure. The buffer structure comprises a first bearing interposed between a first surface of the swash plate and the cylinder block. The buffer structure has a second bearing interposed between a second surface of the swash plate and the cylinder block. One of the bearings is arranged to be flexibly deformable to absorb the axial load while the other bearing is arranged to be rigid to receive the axial load and transmit the axial load to the cylinder block.

  • Patent number: 5483867
Abstract: A swash plate type compressor incorporating therein a swash plate having an annular rail raised from each flat face thereof for providing a sliding-contact surface being in contact with sliding-contact surface portions of respective shoes which constitute a rotation-to-reciprocation conversion unit arranged between the swash plate and double-headed pistons reciprocating axial cylinder bores of the compressor. The sliding-contact surfaces of respective shoes bulge outward and have a radius of curvature "R" in the range of 800 through 1600 millimeters which is smaller than that of the conventional shoes of a swash plate type compressor, so that relatively large wedge shaped gaps are formed between the respective shoes and the swash plate to thereby stably and constantly hold lubricating oil.

  • Patent number: 5244355
Abstract: A swash plate type compressor includes a cylinder blocks having a crank case which communicates with a suction port and a plurality of bores formed therein. The ends of each bore are covered with a pair of housings. The bores communicate with discharge chambers. A drive shaft is rotatably placed within the cylinder blocks. A swash plate is rotatable in the crank case, and is mounted on the drive shaft. A plurality of pistons are drivably coupled to the swash plate, and are reciprocotable in their respective bores. As the pistons reciprocate, a refrigerant in the crank case is sucked into each bore and is compressed therein. The compressed refrigerant is discharged into the discharge chambers from the bores. A passage for transporting the refrigerant between the discharge chambers is formed along the axis of the drive shaft. Seals are provided between the cylinder blocks and the drive shaft for sealing the gap between the discharge chambers and the crank case.

  • Patent number: 5181834
Abstract: A swash plate type compressor is provided with a front and rear cylinder blocks having a crank case connected to a suction port. The cylinder blocks include a plurality of cylinders, and are connected to a front and rear housing sections for covering the cylinders. Each housing section contains a discharge chamber. A drive shaft is rotatabley supported by the cylinder blocks. A swash plate is mounted on the drive shaft and is rotatably disposed within the crank case. Two-head pistons move within their respective cylinders in cooperation with the swash plate. The refrigerant is drawn into, and compressed in each cylinder. Thereafter, it is discharged into the external refrigerating circuit through the front and rear discharge chambers, and a final discharge port. A discharge passage includes a hollow primary passage which is provided within the drive shaft. The primary passage communicates with the front and rear discharge chambers. A groove is provided on an inner wall of the primary passage.
