  • Patent number: 8378222
Abstract: This invention relates to a substrate with via and pad structure(s) to reduce solder wicking. Each via and pad structure connects a component to conductive layers associated with the substrate. The substrate includes one or more plated vias, solder mask(s) surrounding the plated vias, and a conductive pad with a conductive trace connected to each plated via. The conductive pad extends beyond the terminal sides to increase solder formation and the solder mask reduces solder formation at the terminal end of the component. The via and pad structure is suitable for a variety of components and high component density. The invention also provides a computer implemented method for calculating the maximum distance of a conductive pad extending beyond the terminal side of a component.

  • Patent number: 8350453
Abstract: A lamp cover containing phosphor for providing white light emission is disclosed. The lamp cover is comprised of a light-partial-reflective cap structure providing the outer surface of the lamp cover, wherein the light-partial-reflective cap structure is composed of a plurality of light transparent layers and a plurality of vacuum layers that are stacked in an alternating manner from outside to inside, a supporting transparent cap structure providing the inner surface of the lamp cover, and a phosphor mixed structure mechanically supported by the outer surface of the supporting transparent cap structure, wherein the outer surface of the phosphor mixed structure is adjacent to the most inner vacuum layer of the light-partial-reflective cap structure. Once the lamp cover is combined with a phosphor exciting light source, the light-partial-reflective cap structure partially prevents phosphor exciting light from escaping from the lamp cover by using Fresnel reflection.

  • Publication number: 20120322476
Abstract: Disclosed is a wireless communication system capable of avoiding interference even when a network including a secondary user coexists. The wireless communication system includes a primary user belonging to a first network, a first secondary user belonging to a second network, and a coexistence manager (CM). The coexistence manager (CM) acquires information relating to spectrum holes that are, at least temporarily, not in use by the primary user. In addition, the coexistence manager (CM) determines whether or not usage of the spectrum holes by the first secondary user causes interference. If the determination result is that interference is caused, coexistence manager (CM) notifies to this effect a second secondary user belonging to a third network, which differs from the second network.

  • Publication number: 20120287804
Abstract: Provided is a wireless communication system capable of increasing safety in the aviation industry, and applicable to the aviation industry. The wireless communication system comprises a control device and a spectrum sensor. The spectrum sensor performs spectrum sensing using a measurement SAP, receives a signal from a wireless communication device, and transmits information relating to the received signal as sensing information through a communication SAP. On the other hand, the control device receives the sensing information from the spectrum sensor through the communication SAP. Subsequently, the sensing information is analyzed using an application SAP. Thereby, whether or not the signal from the wireless communication device interferes with the radio waves of the airband used in the aviation industry is specified.

  • Publication number: 20120135770
Abstract: There is disclosed a channel adjusting method capable of suppressing the occurrence of interference between a cognitive pilot channel (CPC) and an auxiliary control channel (ACS) in cognitive wireless communications. According to the channel adjusting method for use in cognitive wireless communications, initially, a connection using a cognitive pilot channel (CPC) is set up. Thereafter, it is determined whether or not a spectrum sensing channel (ACS) is to be utilized. If yes, it is then determined whether or not any interference occurs between the spectrum sensing channel (ACS) and the set-up cognitive pilot channel (CPC). This allows an adjustment to be performed such that no interference occurs between the cognitive pilot channel (CPC) and the spectrum sensing channel (ACS).

  • Publication number: 20110301870
Abstract: One embodiment relates to testing and verifying vibrator motor operation during manufacturing of a device and during in-the-field use. The test relies on an integrated motion sensor or other mechanical measurement circuitry, such as, for example, an accelerometer. In one embodiment, a speed determination for a vibrator motor performance during initial manufacture of the device. Subsequently, when vibration is detected during the in-the-field use, the vibration may be sampled using the integrated mechanical measurement circuitry. Once sampled, a speed may be determined based on a resonance of the sampled signal. Over time, the various speed determinations for the vibrator motor may be analyzed to determine an overall health of the vibrator motor. A threshold for detecting when the overall health of the vibration motor over time has degraded may be predetermined. A notification of a degradation of vibrator motor performance is sent to either a manufacturer or user of the mobile communications device.
