Publication number: 20210289173Abstract: A mobile device management system including a method for monitoring a remote video camera and event scheduling, synchronization and modification using location information. Video from a remote camera is encoded by a computer and streamed in real time over a network to a mobile device for decoding and display. The computer encoder and mobile device decoder are software-based. Event calendar and schedule information is incorporated, shared and automatically updated among multiple mobile devices. Location information, such as from a locator network or a satellite-based global positioning system, is used to provide real time updates to a mobile device calendar of event schedule. A map or other indicia of the location of other mobile devices may be provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 2, 2021Publication date: September 16, 2021Inventors: James Fraley, Ning Nicholas Chen

Publication number: 20200394194Abstract: A method includes generating vertical-specific (VS) records from data sources. Each VS record includes a vertical identifier and a set of VS data fields. The method further comprises generating, for each VS record, an entity partial (EP) record that includes EP data fields populated from the VS data fields. The EP data fields include an entity ID that indicates an entity for the EP record, a source data field that identifies a data source, and an EP searchable data field including data that is descriptive of the entity. The method further comprises generating a search record for each entity ID by combining data from EP records. The data from the EP records is combined based on the source data included in the EP records. Each search record includes a search record searchable data field that includes data from one or more of the EP searchable data fields.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 12, 2020Publication date: December 17, 2020Applicant: Branch Metrics, Inc.Inventors: Eric Glover, Jonas Bauer, Rishi Khaitan, Matthew Dale, Dmitri Gaskin, Charles Gilliam, Pavan Achanta, Zachary Joel Rivest, Nicholas Chen

Publication number: 20120184242Abstract: Described are methods, devices, and systems to provide enhanced wireless coverage for wireless mobile stations by facilitating centralized authentication for a variety of unrelated networks. The mobile stations can then access Internet and telephony resources via the various networks for improved coverage and bandwidth. Some embodiments support the extension of network coverage using wireless-access points that can be partitioned into multiple virtual access points, one associated with an enterprise and another with an overlay network that facilitates mobile communication over multiple networks. One physical access point can support an enterprise network using one virtual access point and the overlay network using another. Users unaffiliated with an enterprise can access the overlay network via the enterprise's physical access point without gaining access to the enterprise network.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 31, 2010Publication date: July 19, 2012Applicant: RAMBUS Inc.Inventors: Adam H. Li, Ning Nicholas Chen, Ely Tsern, Michael Farmwald

Patent number: 8103267Abstract: A communication device that includes a femtocell base station and a mobile station transmitter/receiver. The femtocell base station may provide bidirectional internet protocol (IP) communication for one or mobile devices to a cellular network. The femtocell base station may be operable to communicate with the cellular network using a wide area network. The mobile station transmitter/receiver may be coupled to the femtocell base station (in a same housing). The mobile station transmitter/receiver may be operable to perform radio frequency (RF) wireless communication with the cellular network, e.g., to detect and/or report environmental parameters, performing testing (e.g., loopback testing), and/or provide communication for the one or more mobile devices (e.g., when the wide area network is down), among others.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2007Date of Patent: January 24, 2012Assignee: VIA Telecom, Inc.Inventors: Anthony Lee, Ning Nicholas Chen

Publication number: 20060267967Abstract: Provided are techniques for extending the capabilities of pen-based interfaces. Embodiments are provided that receive an input that can include a selection, a confirmation, and/or a completion or cancellation. According to some embodiments tension-based techniques (hardwired or software) provide an interface whereby a user can confirm, cancel, or terminate a selected command gesture. The various embodiments employ techniques that include muscular tension and/or pen contact with a screen. Also provided are spring-once techniques that keeps the tool active for one use after a button has been deactivated.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 18, 2005Publication date: November 30, 2006Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Kenneth Hinckley, Francois Jerome Guimbretiere, Georg Apitz, Nicholas Chen, Maneesh Agrawala, Raman Sarin

Patent number: 7075930Abstract: An method for PDSN (Packet Data Serving Node) initial assignment and re-selection in a wireless communication system is provided. The method is implemented in PCF (Packet Control Function) within a third-generation (3G) CDMA Radio Access Network (RAN). The methodology reduces the number of point-to-point (PPP) re-establishments, when a Mobile Station (MS) roams to a different packet zone/PCF. The method generates a table of PDSN identification numbers cross-referenced to the PDSN Internet protocol (IP) addresses, residing with each PCF. A PDSN Id number is selected from the table using the MS IMSI (International Mobile Station Identifier) as a key to perform the selection. The present invention methodology addresses the issue of forward and backward compatibility, scalability, reliability, and load sharing in the PDSN selection.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 2000Date of Patent: July 11, 2006Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Ning Nicholas Chen, Henrik Basilier, Vibhor Julka, Roger Gustavsson
