  • Patent number: 9065498
Abstract: A wireless access node to facilitate dynamic assignment of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) modes comprises a wireless communication transceiver and a processing system. The wireless communication transceiver is configured to receive a scattering coefficient transmitted from a wireless communication device served by the wireless access node. The processing system is configured to compare the scattering coefficient to a scattering threshold, and if the scattering coefficient exceeds the scattering threshold, select a lower order MIMO mode for the wireless communication device and assign the lower order MIMO mode to the wireless communication device.

  • Publication number: 20150123967
Abstract: Technology is disclosed for automatically generating a facial avatar resembling a user in a defined art style. One or more processors generate a user 3D head model for the user based on captured 3D image data from a communicatively coupled 3D image capture device. A set of user transferable head features from the user 3D head model are automatically represented by the one or more processors in the facial avatar in accordance with rules governing transferable user 3D head features. In some embodiments, a base or reference head model of the avatar is remapped to include the set of user head features. In other embodiments, an avatar head shape model is selected based on the user 3D head model, and the transferable user 3D head features are represented in the avatar head shape model.

  • Patent number: 9020509
Abstract: A method and system are provided for dynamically changing Qrxlevmin and Sintrasearch values in a LTE network. An eNodeB sets the Qrxlevmin and Sintrasearch values for each mobile device. The Qrxlevmin value and Sintrasearch value are changed based on RF conditions and a velocity of the mobile device. A lower Qrxlevmin value coupled with a higher Sintrasearch value increases a search period to locate better performing neighboring cells and reduces the chance of handing down from the LTE network to a non-LTE network.

  • Patent number: 9019820
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for optimizing voice services are provided. Hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) is an algorithm that implements fast retransmissions of lost blocks or packets of data. HARQ is an error correcting algorithm. Data may be lost at any layer of a protocol stack, thus, increasing a retransmission rate. In order to reduce the retransmission rate and increase quality of voice services, HARQ may be implemented at each layer of a protocol stack based on, for example, radio frequency signal and retransmission rates.

  • Patent number: 8942755
Abstract: A method and system are provided for dynamically adjusting gain in a cell site. Network devices, such as an eNodeB, NodeB, base transceiver station, base station server, radio network controller, and base station controller can provide instructions directly or through remote radio heads to an amplification system to change the power distribution levels. The instructions are received over an AISG protocol and cause a mechanical motor in an amplification system to move a magnetic core in a solenoid causing a change in the electromagnetic field resulting in a change in an electrical current. The change in the electrical current causes a change in gain, thus, resulting in a change in the power distribution level in a cell.

  • Patent number: 8896497
Abstract: An antenna mount for mounting radio antennas on a communications tower is described. The antenna mount includes a ring structure that encircles the tower and includes a channel disposed about its outer perimeter. The channel is configured to receive a plurality of antenna carriages upon which antennas are mounted on a first end. A second end of the antenna carriage is disposed in the channel and is slideably movable along the length of the channel about the perimeter of the ring structure. The antenna is thus aimable in any desired azimuthal direction by moving the antenna along the ring structure. Bands for communication of data, power, control signaling, and propulsion of the antenna carriages about the ring structure are disposed in the channel. The ring structure may include a junction that allows reorientation of antennas with respect to one another.

  • Patent number: 8897383
Abstract: A wireless communication device to improve multipath environments for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless networks comprises a wireless communication transceiver and a processing system. The wireless communication transceiver is configured to receive MIMO performance information for a plurality of locations of a premises. The processing system is configured to process the MIMO performance information to determine individual ranks associated with each of the locations, wherein higher ones of the ranks indicate better MIMO performance, compare each of the individual ranks to a threshold to determine a group of suboptimal locations of the plurality of locations that have ranks falling below the threshold, and process the suboptimal locations with an in-building geometry of the premises to identify at least one location to install a scattering agent.

  • Publication number: 20140248005
Abstract: An improved stand-up pouch and blank for constructing the same. The stand-up pouch comprises a front panel, a back panel, and a bottom gusset provide between the front panel and the back panel. The bottom side of each panel may comprise a left curved section and a right curved section. The front panel, back panel, and bottom gusset are sealed to one another such that the stand-up pouch is configured to move between a substantially flat state and a stand-up state. According to some aspects, the stand-up pouch is configured such that, when in the stand-up state, a portion of the pouch where the left curved sections of the bottom sides of each panel are sealed together and a portion of the pouch where the right curved sections of the bottom sides of each panel are sealed together do not contact a support surface, thus providing increased stability.
