  • Patent number: 11909352
Abstract: A spectrum splitting, transmissive concentrating photovoltaic (tCPV) module is proposed and designed for a hybrid photovoltaic-solar thermal (PV/T) system. The system may be able to fully utilize the full spectrum of incoming sunlight. By utilizing III-V triple junction solar cells with bandgaps of approximately 2.1 eV, 1.7 eV, and 1.4 eV in the module, ultraviolet (UV) and visible light (in-band light) are absorbed and converted to electricity, while infrared (IR) light (out-of-band light) passes through and is captured by a solar thermal receiver and stored as heat. The stored heat energy may be dispatched as electricity or process heat as needed. The tCPV module may have an overall power conversion efficiency exceeding 43.5% for above bandgap (in-band) light under a standard AM1.5D solar spectrum with an average concentration ratio of 400 suns. Passive and/or active cooling methods may be used to keep cells below 110° C.

  • Publication number: 20240019090
Abstract: Embodiments relate to a power transfer system having two or more current transformers and induction loop connectors. The two or more current transformers include a primary current transformer, a secondary current transformer, or more current transformers. Power from the primary current transformer is transferred to the secondary current transformer. Further induction loops and current transformers can be added as needed. The secondary current transformer then supplies electric current to a load, or to other current transformers to provide electric current to a load(s). An addressable shorting bypass modulates power transfer to the load(s). The load can be a light source load or LED. The light source load or LED can be encapsulated with a pocket(s) having an agent to improve service life of the load or LED. Some embodiments of the LED can be structured as a unidirectional module configured to limited or prevent bleeding of light in other directions.

  • Publication number: 20230411948
Abstract: A circuit breaker with at least one disconnect mechanism and a smart monitoring system implements nuanced fault logic in order to minimize disruption to operation of the circuit breaker under a fault condition, and enables the circuit breaker to address nuisance or low severity faults separately from load switching. Under low severity or nuisance fault conditions, the smart monitoring system temporarily disconnects affected loads from the power supply rather than tripping the entire circuit breaker so that the loads can be reconnected to the power supply if the fault condition resolves within a short amount of time. In addition, the disconnect mechanism(s) that are used to temporarily disconnect the load(s) are configured to be re-closed after opening without requiring manual intervention. In high severity fault conditions, the smart monitoring system actuates tripping of the entire breaker, requiring manual re-closing of the circuit breaker.
